Thanks grannyboy, Should we see it as a good thing if they are short of stock - supply and demand etc. Either way - Tension in Middle East would suggest a further hike in oil prices is on the way so I'm expecting volume here. Not that anybody wants war. Just saying...

There's numerous reasons why the spread is so wide,one been the mm's want to slow trading in a share or are short of shares...the idea is that the mm's make their money by the spread, and they are adept at playing with the market, for instance mm's can short a stock, or some other method, primarily they are there to make a market but they can also strangle it.
