bob - it's just spillover from LGO.

Actually, I think RXP is a better shot for that hot money. At least they have a BIG well drilling and its results are due this month. Nice figures last week too as the company has become cash positive and its development program is fully funded. Potential for a real whoosh there, methinks, but the hot money boys don't seem to have noticed it yet. There are stirrings, though, so maybe there's a bit of early dabbling.

I have a small stake in RXP that could also help MXP.

There are some great drills around,so let`s hope this time at least one comes truly good for what has been a truly unloved sector.

Shares in Max Petroleum (MXP) were sent soaring following Tuesday's update of successful drilling progress.
The stock was up 40% in morning trading, at 1.45p, after a disappointing performance since the beginning of the year.

The company confirmed hydrocarbons have been found in on the ZMA-E7 development well in the Zhana Makat Field, located in Jurassic sandstone reservoirs in line with expectations.

The Kazakhstan-focused oil and gas explorer now plans to place the well on production "as soon as practicable".

Next, the company plans to drill the ZMA-E8 well once regulatory is granted; this is expected to come through in the third quarter of this year. Drilling costs for this well is expected to come in at $1 million (£595,191), in line with other wells in the field.

"[ZMA-E8] will be targeting a potentially significant extension of the Zhana Makat Field to the south east of the existing appraised area," concluded the brief yet upbeat statement.

Hmm. Plenty of stock presumably coming from the institutions, possibly Henderson.

Maybe LGO is the new LGO, followed by AEX?

game changer, this bombed out price could not last even without the news, sentiment is turning very positive in this sector, fair value is about 5p, so along way to go yet.

Max Petroleum Plc, an oil and gas exploration and production company focused on Kazakhstan, is pleased to announce that the ZMA-E7 development well in the Zhana Makat Field has successfully reached a total vertical depth of 997 metres, encountering hydrocarbons in Jurassic sandstone reservoirs in line with expectations.
