Mail...

"Paul Mumford, a fund manager at Cavendish Asset Management, told Bloomberg: 'It would be perfect for a private-equity firm. It's cash generative, it has a decent brand name, a food side which gives it a defensive quality and a portfolio of shop property in fairly prime positions.'

I concur with all that!

I think there is some truth in then rumour with their prime shops customers will return to the High St and dessert the out of town Teco's. Customers are fickle but will come back. In any event the 5% yield will support the shares and with falling interest rates its a good punt at this price.

"0931: Marks&Spencer is now leading gains on the top share index on further news of possible buy-out interest"

Someone reckons there is sufficient mileage in this rumour to punt £1.7 million, watch for the sell.

LOL

No smoke without fire my view. As I said despite falling sales the company has fantastic high st positions and is still highly cash generative. Tesco and the like falling but MKS still has a good loyal customer base.

there will be no bid it is the city trying to get the share price up to sell.

The Crows agree that's why they took the profits and ran

I disagree MKS has good High St shops and is highly cash generagtive a bid could come, with interest rates tumbling and the company givingn a guaranteed 5% yield its worth staying with it for now.

MKS to be subject to a takeover from the Telegraph newspaper
so expect MKS to rise in the morning and then when they realise it's just a load of
newspaper waffle
down she goes

Great stuff for the shorters
