22/12/2022 17:00 | Social Media Marketing Executive graduated last year. Would sack her immediately for using the companies name in court and you don't want a drug dealer in the office. | darrin1471
22/12/2022 16:37 | M&S marketing executive found guilty for dealing in drugs Her lawyers said she had worked all her life but she is only 22 years old so a strange thing for them to say but it doesn't say how long she has been with M&S or whether the dealing was before she became employyed by MARKS. The Judge has given her the benefit of doubt as to why she ended up in the situation but at the end of the day I don't think there can be any excuse for dealing with drugs. I suspect she will still keep her job hence receiving some punishment by a community order. | debsdowner
22/12/2022 16:19 | Superdry Trading Statement Store revenue increased 14.4% Ecommerce revenue increased 1.7%. Performance from third party sites being the key drivers of growth. Wholesale revenue decreased 5.2% | darrin1471

22/12/2022 11:51 | darrin, I noticed they are making use of apps and they are gaining sales and teraction on that front. I see BooHoo and ASOS share price still under pressure and Currys hit a new low the last few days apart from a small bounce after results. The worry for retailers now is things getting worse next year and profits under pressure. I think MARKS will do OK but I don't expect fantastic profits but it will be a close call. | debsdowner
22/12/2022 11:02 | By offering other menswear brands online, mks pick up data and wider credibility. In comparison to the branded products MKS own brand should appear good value. A customer buying a white stuff shirt can be offered a similar MKS item when next using using the app helped by the Thread IP they recently bought out of administration | darrin1471
22/12/2022 10:50 | diku, I think they lost some menswear sales with a lot of people working from home and gthere are still vast numbers of people still working from home which will still be affecting menswear. I have to confess I have seen the same with my larger menswear I suspect they will deal with all these issues in due course which they are doing with some stores by improving their food offering and reducing other space. At the moment MARKS is holding steady I guess there will be limited movement before the trading upsate after Christmas which most retailers do. | debsdowner
22/12/2022 10:39 | Time to knock the nail on the head.MKS needs to pay dividends. Maybe small. But show willing about the Future. | xxxxxy
22/12/2022 10:01 | My recent visit to MKS store think menswear is the under performer and a drag...with all that floor space allocated for menswear...not sure how much business MKS doing online with menswear section... | diku
22/12/2022 09:49 | The ITV programe was interesting but the only thihg it only concentrated on the food side of the business which looks to be doing well, they are selling out of certain Christmas products which you would expect as they have to be ordered in advance and you have to guess how many products to order otherwise you are left with too much stock. They rely on local bakeries for their breads and cakes however. Fashion is even more difficult as most things are shipped in and if a product sells fast you suffer delays getting new sgtock in and it can be impossible as it can take weeks for new stock then the season has changed. I suppost MARKS only concerntrated the programme on food as that is the growth area going forward. On other matters this morning the economy has been revised down yet again and much worse than expected and some analysts are now saying interest rates will have to eb cut again latter end of 2023. | debsdowner

21/12/2022 14:56 | Ah :-) -------------- UK retail sales unexpectedly picked up in the run-up to Christmas, according to the latest Distributive Trades Survey from the Confederation of British Industry. The CBI’s reported sales balance rose to +11 in December from -19 the month before, coming in well above consensus expectations for a reading of -24. A balance is the weighted difference between the percentage of retailers reporting an increase and those reporting a decrease. Still, the CBI said the cheer is set to be temporary, with retailers not expecting the recovery to continue into the new year. Sharecast | philanderer
21/12/2022 13:06 | Sales of low-alcohol beer, wine and spirits is on the rise, while growing numbers are opting for out-right abstinence.Figures from Ocado released this week suggest that more than a third of people are planning not to drink alcohol at all over the festive period. The proportion is even higher among those aged between 18 and 34: 56pc of those surveyed say they will not be drinking alcohol over Christmas."These are people who've grown up with social media and so I think they realise that they don't want to be caught drunk on camera," says Amanda Thomson, chief executive and founder of alcohol-free drinks maker Thomson & Scott.Gen Z grew up watching the older generation "embarrass themselves" after one too many drinks, she says. All this may sound like a boon for Coca-Cola but Thomson says this new generation of abstainers still want to celebrate with something that tastes grown up, not sugary soft drinks or artificial tasting alcohol knock-offs."Consumer | xxxxxy
20/12/2022 18:49 | darrin, I think most people will get round all the strikes it's not as though people are stupid and couldn't find another day. As for Chins I must confess although I try and keep up with most news I somehow missed that one and it is one to watch. Things have been in quite a mess with lockdowns around the world and also the Ukraine war there is no end to disruption. There are still supply issues you try and buy a cheap hot air dryer whereever you look most retailers haven't any and I have seen shortages of other products as well. I also get the feeling there are less price reducrtions on fashion this year as well. | debsdowner
20/12/2022 16:58 | I am worrying how the wider market will react to the change in China policy from zero covid to "let it rip" 100,000's likely to die in the run up to Chinese New year and the following few weeks. A tragedy that has to shock the supply chain again and the wider markets? | darrin1471
20/12/2022 16:53 | Yes a lot of volume went through at the closing auction. 8 days trading after the schools closed and postal strikes should give the high street a boost LfL | darrin1471
20/12/2022 16:39 | diku, 1.2 million gone through at over £1.21 so looks like there are some buyers keep mopping a few up unless it was a delayed sell. | debsdowner
20/12/2022 09:59 | Hope not but that 120p is proving to be a struggle...maybe a retest of lower support levels again?... | diku |
