Gersemi,you seem a tad pessimistic on the prospects of extracting value from the HM discovery and while I have no idea on a scale of 1 to 10 how stable or otherwise Turkey is, I would like to think the MARL management would have made an assessment of this before embarking on the HM project. It kind of doesn't stack up to invest on the basis of if successful only a fraction of the true value would be realized.

Agree doublestexan, having found this resource surely it makes sense to maximize the value with as much further drilling as necessary and then bide their time rather than rush to sell, as you say at a discount.

All,
I'm invested in Mariana Resources and have read your posts re: whether the company should sell their stake or develop the mine. It has been said the market will discount the price of the sale.
However, the market will not discount the price of the gold produced at the mine , so why sell at a discount, a resource that is so outstanding ?
When the company can get full price for the gold......
and possibly have more and more drills with great results?

I agree that HM is a once in a lifetime discovery but its location in Turkey will ensure it will never receive the rating it so obviously deserves which is why MARL should drill as much as is possible then get rid to the highest bidder and return the cash in the form of a special dividend...

Gersemi: Thank you very much for your posting 2367. The valuation metrics and risks you consider are the most relevant ones. Perhaps what is hardest to assess is political risk, because the situation is changing rapidly, and the news flow of recent months has been unsettling. I'm not sure that a 30% discount is adequate. An awful lot of this risk can be swallowed, though, given the quality of the project.

Unlike you, I would much prefer Mariana to settle down as an unambitious dividend-distibuting part-owner of Hot Maden. There is a long history of mining companies frittering away the proceeds of their best asset in an ill-judged attempt at growth. Mariana will almost certainly never find another project remotely comparable to Hot Maden in its returns.

Regarding ergama coulnt they strike a similar deal with lidya forergama as they did with HM.

gersemi, Considering the terrific performance in the share price over the last couple of years, which would not have happened without HM! and because of only holding 30 odd percent means the management have there hands tied somewhat. I agree with selling of hm as Mariana are explorers and not miners, when this comes about who knows.....GLA HOLDERS

I hope Roth-Parsons can secure a good deal to sell Hot Maden because being based in Turkey completely undermines the rating that MARL should be enjoying if it was operating in a less politically volatile country

Taking HM to production would damage the interests of the shareholders..

Sell HM when all is known
Drill Ergama and see what's contained within
Focus on Ivory Coast & Argentina
