The results were pretty uninspiring to say the least. Have a look at VDI if your looking for a company in a similar market but which is growing 40%+ and about to break into profitability. Its forecast to do about 27m canadian dollars in turnover for the current year. That will be blown out of the water if they sign the 25 year contract to operate security at Toronto airport in the next few weeks. It has better asset backing than MNW as well.

Been out of MNW for a while now but kept them on my watch list...will probably remove now given the outlook.

LC - finally got out a while ago having thankfully top sliced when the share price was healthier. Think they'll come good again once the international expansion starts to contribute, whenever that is, but seems in limbo at present.

Not sure if the statement re WM is saying they're no longer a customer, or just that for FY2008 MNW aren't factoring anything in due to the uncertainty. Perhaps that'll be clarified in the web call.

Have kept watch as it's still a major growth market and MNW have good technology to address it...could prove to be a good LTBH at current levels and Sir Tel is a canny operator.

At first glance, results look to be ahead of expectations both in revs and eps. Confused beacause they are stating 3 month eps ahead of their full year revised expectations - perhaps this is indicative of negative earnings to come once or now that Walmart contracts have been fully deployed and terminated.

"The Company is planning to generate sufficient revenue in fiscal 2008 to achieve breakeven earnings before income taxes at the current operating expense level without any revenue contribution from its current largest customer."

I think this backs this up.

Little else to go on. I expect they'll be upbeat during the cc, again. They really need to start coming up with figures from overseas rather than their continual hints that they are "really excited" about this and that. Was amazed to see they had no presence at this years IIPSEC despite all their talk about europe and the UK, biggest international show of IP in security (attended by virtually everyone) and they fail to turn up????

I have a very small amount (750) which are firmly bottom drawered out of interest to see if they can turn the ship around. Been quite a ride with MNW and, if nothing else, I've learned a few valuable lessons. Anyone still holding?

Conf call: CEO says it's all down to WalMart. They've just cancelled all the orders. Ditching MNW altogether can't be far off, therefore. They clearly don't like the systems - AND there is a competitor. Hence the almost certain complete termination of the Walmart deal. It's a little odd, since Walmart haven't yet done this - maybe just to keep maintenance deals ...
The Bombardier contract is not affected.
The only positive is an attempt to restructure cost-base, but this is probably going to be later in 07.
The price is therefore fair, IMHO, at between 480 & 580p.

If you still believe in this sector but not with MNW. Have a look at Indigivision (IND) www.indigovision.com

A recent update from Orion, inc. some thoughts on Bombardier. It looks if they think results from the Bombardier OEM are much nearer than I thought, and look at their est for March's % of market! Will keep an eye in ObjectVideo too.

MARCH NETWORKS CORPORATION

November 2, 2006
Technology – Hardware (Equal Weight)
MN, TSX – C$24.01 12-Month Target: C$30.00
MNW, LSE – 1,138p Rating: Overweight
Potential Return: 25%
All values in C$ unless otherwise noted.
What's Changed (2007E)
Previous New
Sales (MM) $107.2 Unchanged
FD EPS $0.75 Unchanged
Rating Overweight Unchanged
Target $30.00 Unchanged
What Happened?

• In the last six weeks March Networks has entered into OEM relationships with Bombardier and software solutions provider ObjectVideo. March was also awarded the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) contract for providing mobile transit video security. Bombardier has just won a multi-billion dollar order to provide SNCF with commuter rail cars in the Paris region. Further, as part of a US$212 million program, Lockheed Martin (as general contractor)announced a number of video security contract wins (including ObjectVideo) for the New York City transit authority (the MTA).
What Does it Mean?

• Until quite recently, almost all video security deployments in the transit market have been for the fixed portions of the networks: transit stations and platforms. However, the various security threats to transit systems (including, but not limited to, terrorism) have historically been directed at the mobile portions of the systems, NOT platforms and stations.

• We believe that transit authorities deployed video security at fixed areas not because that was where the threat to security was greatest, but because 1) it was relatively easy to do and relatively affordable, and 2) the technology for providing rugged, high quality mobile solutions was not yet ready. We believe that March Networks (both on its own and in partnership with Bombardier) has developed mobile video security solutions that meet the needs of even the most demanding transit authorities.

• Reinforced by the recent win at the TTC (~$15 million,) we believe March may shortly be announcing significant transit wins with the MTA (subway and commuter rail – about $35 million to $45 million in revenue) and with SNCF in Ile-de-France (~$25 million). In partnership with Bombardier, we believe that March is addressing and is poised to dominate a global $1.5 billion revenue opportunity over the next 10 years.

• We believe that the mobile transit security market is much larger than the financial and retail markets that March has built its growth upon in the last few years. Further, we believe that March's technological advantages in the mobile market (ruggedness, fault prediction, compression, form factor) versus its competitors should allow it to have unrivalled success in this market vertical. It appears that March's current share of this market is in excess
of 80%; we believe that level may be defensible.

• If the adoption of mobile video security technology is as rapid as we expect, and if March is able to maintain its current market share, this new business has the potential to more than double March's revenue and earnings within the next 24 months.
What Is it Worth?

• We arrive at our $30.00 target by applying 40x to our fully taxed 2007 diluted EPS estimate.
What to Do? • We reiterate our Overweight recommendation and our $30.00 price target.

Lord - thanks for that. Still have a slice in MNW for LTBH and optimistic that they will do well internationally once "investment year" has laid appropriate foundations. Would be nice to see some UK/EU contract wins on the back of this i.d.c.

Cheers

EPS looks to have come in under expectations. Will have to wait for call to find out why but it looks like their 'investment year' is well under way and the new, bigger MNW is in effect, unfortunately so far with the sole result being what you may expect; a more expensive company to run. Unfortunately they have not seen fit/been able to raise their guidance in tandem with raising expenses across the board, until they can do that or we see a steady flow of contract wins coming in, I'd say the pressure on this is more downward.
