https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/high-speed-rail-hs2-hs2-b1957926.htmlI keep forgetting about HS2. If I recall MNO carried out work on the HS1 line. Gotta be a guaranteed contract for HS2 nearer the time, unless it's already been confirmed MNO working on it and I've forgotten

Hi Jim,I also have fully moved out of o&g. The high POO is not reflected in the share price anywhere and to be honest, I didn't want to associate myself with it anymore for environmental reasons. MNO is an interesting one IMO. This latest contract highlights huge opportunities for the green sector.

I've had a very small top up here today after getting out of oil and gas for good.
MNO making all the right noises. I guess how they'll fund the growth might be the issue going forward?

Yes we're thankfully finally there with the infrastructure bill. It'll be interesting if this has an instant impact in Monday, but if not it doesn't matter because now it's just a matter of time before the US MNO office finalises those contracts from all of the close connections of their US rail solutions guy. Strong hold IMO

Yes I'm quite confident continuing to hold MNO for several years, to see a nice return, it's the right sector, the right product, the right time, IMO. MNO has actually fared quite well I think compared to other stocks in this turbulent time. It's now my second highest holding, against NNDM (US stock).

I see MNO as currently being in the subtle position of placing all their fingers in the right pies, setting the stage, making a difference in the industry on a low key level. And then suddenly - boom! The rail industry will see the value and other rail leaders will jump on board. And we will reap the benefits

Couple of snippets from Today's Arden note...

High-level details: The partnership will greatly increase Maestrano’s (Cordel) market reach in North America, and its exposure to potential new customers. Holland provides geometry, rail wear, and track strength testing services for > 120 freight, transit, short lines, in Nth America, covering > than 80,000 miles of railtrack. This is a material proportion of the local market opportunity.

...

Further evidence of commercial pipeline: MNO has already announced contracts wins with (UK) Network Rail in recent months. The company is now operating internationally, including Australia, Japan and US. We have always cited further progress in US in particular may be a major catalyst, as current budget expectations are set conservatively

...

Investment case and valuation: The company continues to build out impressively. MNO has aspects of both SAAS and Infrastructure Tech, which are highly valued sub sectors. Our MNO valuation of £72m/47p, based on FY24 revenue, public multiples and an appropriate discount rate, suggests the shares have material upside from current levels.

I was thinking earlier about the unique position MNO are in with the constant stream of rail data they will accrue, across all of the various railways. And how this data in itself can be leveraged. Much like how Google Maps provides a constant stream of data, except it will be unique to railway lines. Of course a constant and full data stream relies on multiple railway lines and trains to be running the MNO LiDAR frequently. But imagine constant, realtime data on potential track safety issues, changes to the environment, etc. All of this fuelled into their data collection system. I imagine that this data alone could be harnessed for other revenue-generating activities. Getting this data back in the MNO offices just be interesting and I wonder what else they have up their sleeves.
