Manchester United can at least hide behind the fact they are a listed entity with shareholders seeking a return on their investment. Liverpool is an owner run model, and curiously saddled with a lot of debt.

Was at GP last season and me and the lad had some stuff to do the club had arranged. The steward who was with us was a red (STH) and said he wished LFC did stuff like this. Said it was all about the $$$ but Everton do loads in the community. Read into that what you will

Not just Liverpool though is it? It's football overall. Man U have been far worse - perhaps the biggest culprit when it comes to their commercialisation of the sport. Liverpool are playing catch up.
