19/1/2018 14:58 | telbap, the first paper currencies were promissary notes, that entitled the holder to the gold held in storage. The promissary note was the receipt given to the depositor who then traded the receipt for goods and services. The new holder of the receipt could trade it or redeem the gold. hence the words "promise to pay the bearer" which still appears on british bank notes, although it means nothing these days, as the note is now full and final payment. | sea7
19/1/2018 14:54 | Lets face it, gold trading is one of the first methods of trade payment in the world. Even most paper currencies were initially tied to gold standard....only pulling away because of global greed. Technology scares people who don't fully understand what is happening thru either ignorance or simple lack of comprehension....we are all different.Only time will tell what will happen here, I feel that this will move faster than some here expect. | telbap
19/1/2018 14:54 | exbiz, the larger players are already moving behind the scenes and are not being left behind... DTC is based on a prototype trade finance tool developed by Belgian bank KBC, which uses blockchain technology to connect all parties involved in international trade — buyers, sellers, transporters, banks financing the deals on either side etc. International trade is currently a disparate and convoluted process where each party deals directly with generally only one other participant, rather than seeing the whole process. Betts says: "What we're trying to do is get something that is simple, fast, efficient, and secure for customers to be able to trade within a secure platform. By using a strong, secure, authorised and closed network, enabled through blockchain, it will enable the customer to initiate transactions digitally, be it online or through mobile devices, and then be able to track those transactions all the way through from commitment to pay, settlement, notification, and so on." | sea7

19/1/2018 14:45 | Unfortunately it's the backwards facing dinosaurs who will always slate new technology and get left behind. What LION is facing now is what Bitcoin faced in it's early days when it was less than $10 and the Banking Goliaths and Dinosaurs laughed at it. Within 3 years it was up to $200 and the Dinosaurs were in hysterics as they proclaimed the immediate collapse, yet little could they foresee with their heads firmly fixed in the dark and distant past that it would breach $20,000 within 9 years of its birth. Now there are many here that believe still that Bitcoin is a bubble or a Ponzi scheme (because they haven't read the white paper and not taken the time to educate themselves) but Charles Ponzi back in the 1920's conceived schemes whereby each investment had to be sold on to the next and so on and so forth with no attributable value to anything. Bitcoin has its' attributable wealth attached to the crypto coin and its rarity capped at 21 million BTC which makes it far rarer than gold and hence the HODL phenomenon. Goldbloc will do well as older generations believe that crypto backed by gold is far more secure but the truth is it is just a tether and for those that follow coinmarket charts you will see Tether(USDT)does not but vary from the price of a US$ other than perhaps a fraction of a cent. Goldbloc will make gold as an asset much, much easier to trade on a day to day basis and thats where its popularity will come. However younger generations do not have such hang ups about crypto currency being asset backed as they understand far better that the crypto currency itself is the asset and by having a gold backed crypto you are just replicating an asset with an asset and calling it an asset. Basically the business is coming together like this. TRAC will hold bullion and act as a trading platform for bullion trade. Goldbloc will act as a crypto currency for easy transaction AND Raisbank will be the banking fintech median to facilitate global reach. The stake in Railsbank is the real valuable asset here as banking undergoes meteoric changes in the next few years and more people take control of their own personal banking, much the same as branches are now becoming obsolete as millions now bank online. My suggestion is buy and hold for Railsbank growth which I expect to be huge and will be taken out in the next few years by one of the yawning Goliaths as they finally begin to understand their precarious predicaments. | exbiz
19/1/2018 14:44 | sadly idle jack you have taken a part of a conversation only. This was refering to the scaling up of the whole offering in response to the ongoing conversation at the time, whereby the virtues of having goldbloc instead of fiat were being discussed. I was refering to the fact that gold backed cryptos are not as stable as fiat currencies are when it comes to par value and that there is too much volatility in the value for it to be considered as a medium of exchange for day to day use by mainstream society. The change in the value of goldbloc should it be used in daily society would be too risky for someone to place any certainty on using it, for their daily needs. Please ensure that if you extrapolate posts, you include the others posts which are part of the whole conversation. | sea7

19/1/2018 14:38 | That was one of them..... Anyway back to the action sea7 28 Dec '17 - 20:01 - 1191 of 1243 0 1 0 you, kimboy, blueshoes, rodson/miller, others on here and me, may all be comfortable with fluctuations in values and investing, however, that comfort does not extend to the vast majority of people you see around you on a daily basis. Can you see a pensioner getting her pension in goldbloc and then accepting that she may or may not have enough to see her through the week, as its purchasing power is affected by the daily moves in gold - I cannot see her accepting that worry can you. | idle jack
