Thanks Rivaldo and that disparity between LST and IIG is only widening which makes the latter the more attractive business case at present

Hi toptomcat. As you say, IIG is a much less risky play than LST, so holders are able to retain an indirect interest in LST whilst spreading that risk more evenly. I'm optimistic that IIG's management are more than capable of spotting more winners like LST, particularly the other unquoted investments to date. Therefore happy to hold IIG whilst taking profits on LST.

There's a really good story attached to this, but its very unpredictable which floats will benefit and whether the share price will fly or plummet.

I guess if you make a % profit that you would have been happy with after 2 years...

For instance I had shares in IMMO at float which was new, virtual reality experiences within theme parks etc. But it just fell after float.

Could just simply be a matter of how many free shares are available and whether the existing shareholders dump after a float.

Rivaldo, does your decision here alter your thinking in IIG in any way, or is this a less riskier play on LST?

The chart is a thing of beauty here! But I've felt compelled to take a lot of profit here today.

At these levels the £46m m/cap is asking for quite a bit to sustain it. The results this year to 30th November will likely show a large decline in EBITDA/PBT as per Turner Pope's forecasts given the investment in LST and the supply chain problems in UK Circuits' sector, so might surprise some existing investors/put new investors off.

I certainly didn't expect to make around 130% in a couple of weeks, so happy to leave some for the next man. The huge volumes - and the incredibly quiet thread here - suggest there's perhaps decent institutional interest which may carry the share price higher.

It's also good news to be able to sell a lot of stock at high prices when there's such good liquidity. This is often impossible in microcaps like LST.

It's really a gamble from here at this point without maiden trading info, news flow etc. To double from here would require a hefty £92m m/cap. On the other hand negative news could see a pull back to say 14p-15p? Not a good risk/reward imho.

Good luck all - I'll keep the thread going with news flow as I still have a holding for interest's sake.

A couple of interesting recent news items not posted here before:

Last month LST were announced as a finalist in the forthcoming 2021 Vertical Farming World Awards, in recognition of its sustainable grow light range nurturGROW:

And LST's is "The only measurement device in the world that can measure in all 3 standards":

"We love our Spectral Photo Goniometer! The only measurement device in the world that can measure in all 3 standards (BS EN 13032/Part 4 & LM79/08 & Laboratory procedures 17025) in real time comparisons & create accurate scientific results #technology #science #agritech"

Always good to have a selection of "what if..." stocks and hopefully, apart from providing some interest, a couple will do the blue sky thing.

Problem is any sort of attempt at valuation in the early stages - at this point the value is whatever the market wants to pay - which is no help at all !

I took a small stake earlier today (10000K) the price may have got ahead of itself but I belive that this type of high tec agriculture has a future, and being of a certain age Aim shares are part of my IHT planning. If it falls back I may well add more,
My earlier purchase ended the day in profit ...just!

Surely worth having the link to the admission doc in the header ?

This is a download link:

Financials on page 51.
Cash position + creditors and debtors on page 52.

I'm afraid I take exception to rubbish in the press that presents things falsely, especially factual things.

The rise may well be due to only 25% of shares in free float.

It doesn't matter really - with a few media articles behind it, the story will do it, until it doesn't.

The circuit business is definitely not a "robust" business by any measure, there have been grants which distort the results, but even with those, its not exactly brimming with profits. Nobody will be interested in the financials at the moment though.

I raised this on float and even rivaldo, who is normally right on it with financials, didn't reply.

Had a punt, but out now. Burnt too many times.

My take is the existing business is humdrum, so they've decided to enter a new market, with a new product. As per 'usual' a float and a story gets them out of actually having to generate cash from their existing business.

Wise words but when a stock marches ahead thus, I wonder how much hype is involved ? I'm not saying it won't be a winner; but is it getting ahead of itself ? Google says up another 8% today.

BlackRock's CEO says:

“It is my belief that the next 1,000 unicorns — companies that have a market valuation over a billion dollars — won’t be a search engine, won’t be a media company, they’ll be businesses developing green hydrogen, green agriculture, green steel and green cement”

Starpukka, who knows. LST's certainly done rather well - but I see that Bowery Farming in the USA is now valued at $2.3 billion when it apparently makes around $80m revenues currently. That's American valuations and forward thinking for you....if your timeframe is multi-year rather than a month or two, then I think it was John Lee who said a penny or two either way doesn't make any difference.

"Take a Gander at this Scientific Go-getter with the Technology to Curb Costly Food Imports

By Malcolm Stacey | Thursday 28 October 2021

Hello, Share Chasers. Like Radio Four’s policy, perhaps we should spotlight science from time to time. A worthy pioneering outfit to consider is Light Science Technologies (LST). It sells light sources and sensors that help crops to grow and give greater yields....."

(Sharecast News) - The Financial Mail on Sunday's Midas column told readers to buy shares of Light Science Technologies, pointing out the benefits of the company's technology for health, climate and the UK more economy."The shares are 12.45p and should increase substantially in value as this country and others focus on producing more food closer to home," the tipster said.At present only 23% of the fruits and vegetables consumer in the UK were produced in the country and roughly a fifth of the UK's greenhouse gas emissions were generated by the food industry.Light Science's technology also allowed producers to raise yield, while improving both the taste and nutritional value of food. The company has developed over 40 variations of lighting kit that are individually tailored to growers' needs for use in glasshouses and polytunnels as well as indoor farms. It has also developed the sensors needed to monitor everything from oxygen and carbon dioxide to humidity and gentle breezes at certain stages.Using the technology, farmers can grown crops year round, locally and boost their income, as many are forced to import fruit and veg at a loss in winter in order to fulfil supermarket contracts."Light Science Technology Holdings combines a robust, revenue-generating circuits business with an exciting new division, that operates in a fast-growing market and can help to solve some of the UK's knottiest food production issues," says the Financial Mail on Sunday's Midas column."As a relatively young firm, the outlook is not risk-free but, for investors keen to support entrepreneurial UK businesses, the shares, at 12.45p, are a buy."

LST scoops gong at vertical farming awards
Light Science Technologies wins ‘Best Sustainability Initiative’ at Vertical Farming World Awards

LST's nuturGROW wins sustainability award

UK agritech firm Light Science Technologies (LST) has won ‘Best Sustainability Initiative’ at the 2021 Vertical Farming World Awards, for its sustainable grow light range nurturGROW.

The Derby-based business, formed in 2019, was selected by a renowned panel of independent judges for its innovative lighting product, seeing off strong competition from some of the industry’s biggest names.

Recently launched, nurturGROW is made from materials that minimise carbon footprint while providing a high-performance and cost-effective solution for indoor growers. It is 90 per cent recyclable, significantly reducing landfill waste, and is also 85 per cent reusable, allowing growers to easily upgrade components and with no downtime, making it future-proof and easily maintainable.

Simon Deacon, CEO of Light Science Technologies said: “We are thrilled to receive this award, especially at a time of exciting growth for the business. It is recognition of all the team’s hard work over the past two years, and cements LST’s place at the front of indoor farming technology and innovation.”

Celebrating excellence and innovation across the global vertical farming industry, the inaugural awards saw 18 winners from across 16 categories announced on Tuesday 21 September at an online ceremony during Zenith Global’s 2021 Vertical Farming World Congress.

Light Science Technologies says it delivers lighting, science and research-proven plant monitoring technology and software in partnership with world-leading university research teams.

It works across multiple indoor applications including vertical farming, greenhouses and poly tunnels across different plant species."
