It is to be paid as a divi, although when seems to be in question - TDW are advising they havnet been paid yet, although individuals tend to get paid first then brokers who have to split the money up to the individual account holders. In the meantime the share value has been zero'ised! I am hoping to be paid shortly to try and recover some appalling loses in Leyshon in other areas whilst oil is low. Caza, eMe, Hawk look strong medium term bets to double.

On the face of it, as the ex dividend date must be before the delisting, common sense suggests that whenever it is paid, the dividend ought to go into the ISA. However, I've asked for written clarification from my broker.

rvsy38 - thanks for the advice. I'd assumed that whatever happens to the remaining holding in the unlisted company, the "dividend" would be paid into the ISA. From what you say, this isn't necessarily going to be the case. By selling the ISA holding, the capital loss isn't going to be of any use, but at least I would avoid possibly paying tax on the "dividend". I will ask my ISA broker.

Scallywag

My broker told me that delisted shares cannot be held in an ISA for more than 30 days after being delisted. Thereafter they will be transferred by the broker to another ( non tax free ) account. So if the dividend is not received within 30 days from the delisting the dividend will go into a non sheltered account and be liable for tax if one is a higher rate taxpayer.

I didn't want to take the risk of paying tax so I sold the shares held in my ISA.

This is only my experience and I strongly recommend that you check your situation with your broker.

so it's a dividend

difficult to know what to do here:

(1) sell and crystallise the loss in 2014/15, but get less than 4.1p and potentially miss out on (a) any further distribution from sale of gas asset (which atherley as a significant shareholder will be motivated to sell) and (b)any distribution from the liquidator once liabilities settled
or
(2) hold on for the 4.1p dividend but pay tax on it and then make a negligible value claim for cgt purposes post liquidation - risk of shares held in ISA being ejected prior to receipt of dividend

then there's the matter of whether the shares go ex-entitlement/ex-dividend in the coming days - to my mind they have to or shareholders on the register as at 10th feb could have sold at 4p or so AND receive the dividend!

all rather confusing

papillon - "I see FAST as a low risk investment as was LEN last week."

I know nothing of FAST but I do know that at no time - and particularly last week - has it been sensible to describe LEN as a low risk investment.
In our state of knowledge last week there was no knowing what desperado scheme the LEN management might have had in mind for their steadily shrinking cash balance. All one can say is that, viewed from today, it may have turned out to be a profitable short term investment. There is still a significant risk that the view may become less rosy within a few weeks.

The management's present conclusion and proposals are (imo) correct in the circumstances - if, with hindsight, a year or two late! I don't underestimate their (rather well rewarded) anguish in eventually arriving at the decision.

I was tossing up, on friday, whether to buy FAST or LEN. Both were selling at a similarly very large discount to their cash and both companies were talking of returning their cash to shareholders if they couldn't find something suitable to invest in. Unfortunately I chose FAST, primarily because the share price dropped sharply on Friday due to a large seller! Such is my luck! However I think what has happened today with LEN could easily happen with FAST sometime this year. If so then I will make around a circa 50% return on my FAST investment. However if FAST do find something suitably cheap (in the present climate for oil) to invest in then the Market, if it likes the deal, could very well re-rate the shares anyway. I see FAST as a low risk investment as was LEN last week.

I see LEN has given up, is de-listing from AIM and is returning all it's cash to shareholders. LEN share price up circa 50% today on the news. Come on FAST and do the decent thing and return your cash to shareholders!! Lol.

Don't have all your eggs in one basket, socktrade. lol.

Having said that I have all my eggs in the LOGP/PVR basket, but then again I didn't start with many eggs in the first place!! lol. I've invested around £2,500 in LOGP/PVR recently (mostly LOGP). That'll do me. No more; don't get greedy is my maxim! Some good news today from LOGP might bode well for the future, but you can never tell; bad news is often lurking around the corner with AIM stocks. Don't get carried away! Have a stop loss in place. It would have saved you losing £60k on LEN/LRL.

Might have a little flutter on FAST tomorrow. It looks unloved and could bounce off support. bwtfdik?

This POS called LEN? Well it will find support sometime and at some price, but when I have no idea. The LEN Ichimoku chart might give some lead as to a change of direction, bwtfdik? Alternatively it might help if LEN could came out with some good news for a change, but that might be too much to ask! lol.

PS. PTV? A pumper n dumper stock if ever there was one.

Re post 1375: the key from the AGM (which I attended) and the source of the enthusiasm IMHO is the offset well data from the northern neighbours to the LEN PSC.

That is a new development during the silent period since LEN was formed (and is testimony to the skills of the new team in building relationships with trade colleagues) and since the BoD was gathered. The key development has been that the new BoD have knowledge (how data was obtained was not stated) of offset well data which are very promising for the northern end of the LEN PSC.

Apparently the neighbour has high flow rates, it was said. It was not stated which neighbour this was (and a new neighbour has come along recently due to licensing of an adjacent area to west and north which had not been allocated before, so maybe that). Hence the focus on zone 1 and well 8 and some obvious excitement I felt. Go to the wikipedia page on offset well data.

Also (addressing some queries I have seen on this board re whether well 5 is to be re-tested etc) at the AGM it was stated at least twice that ZJS5 IS commercial, and that in the Chinese gas market is such that even what would be non-commercial wells in the US market are commercial in China.

They did acknowledge that for proper working up for production one would do more work on well 5 but the commercial status was not said to be in question. Hence the emphasis is on re-testing ZJS7, and going for ZJS8 (probably come-what-may, was the impression at AGM). Well 6 was asked about but given the excitement over Zone 1 in the north, I had the impression 6 is well down the list of priorities. Why bother when there are better uses for the money?

So, I am (very) long on LEN having studied every inch of this project carefully and am in for the long term (as I have been for some time).

Sorry not in a position to post here more than very rarely or to post replies but hope this take on things helps since I have picked up that some things discussed here were helpfully covered at the AGM and it seems fair to share.

Remember: the offset well data is the new factor. Nothing in this post is investment advice and it is provided merely as being of interest and I have no connection with LEN: DYOR.
