Sainsbury's profits fall 8.2% to £503m.

They have instigated a £500m cost saving programme for 2017-18 and another £500m cost saving programme for 2018-19.

Be under no illusion. They will continue to need "The Edge" to help save costs, and all other supermarkets will be in the same boat.

There will be a plethora of announcements in the near future, with more and more retailers signing up to VS's technology.

Phil - in my view, the MM's are having a field day, manipulating the price one way and the other, probably scaring a few into bailing out so they are picking up cheap stock. Interestingly I notice on a couple of buys at 0.2/0.21p, they then up the offer to 0.22p, so they have a ridiculously wide spread and don't seem to want any substantial buying.

Some have commented that the MM's can't possibly know what lies ahead, but in my City experience, that's nonsense. Anybody who thinks it's a level playing field is just deluding themselves. There will always be "insiders" and "those in the know", and the MM's are right in the thick of it.

They aren't prepared to take big risks being the virtual "wholesalers" of the stock. The trading patterns have been very strange here for some time now, but the MM's are pretty tetchy when it comes to sustained buying. We know news could come at any time, and we also know a lot is happening behind the scenes.

Part of the reason could be the delay in implementing "The Edge" for some trusts, but again the whole report gave the game away in that the intention is to roll it out across the whole NHS.

Personally, I think it's a waiting game. Yes, disappointing for some that they don't see what they are looking for at 7am (RNS's have come at different times of the day here before), and impatience gathers momentum.

If the likes of John Lewis are more than happy to implement the VS technology, then I'm sure it's not going to be forever before they sign up more retailers.

Somewhat baffling to me all this. If this is such a potential winner (which it appears to be) why such volatile swings in share price on pretty meagre trading? Summat not right.

KK - it's just a shame that some have little patience. Mind, it has been a while since news so you probably can't blame them, but we know here there is a lot going on behind the scenes, and patience will be rewarded.

It'll come though, no doubt. There is a lot of news in the pipeline to come, more retailers, rolling out through the NHS although delayed, a possible VS float?

All in the mix.

Can expect a jump shortly week after next then if this was known, it may have been what caused the pull back - we had more buys than sells by my calculations over the last 8 days.

Yup, I've always thought the next RNS will be THE one, that changes the game irreversibly here and propels us towards the 1p mark.
