22/5/2008 11:26 | homeboy - I am loath to offer advice, as each of our personal circumstances differ. Falling into administration (or whatever other collapse mechanism) can mean bets being frozen pending an outcome which can take as long as it takes - and that can annoyingly tie up margin on a sbet account, which might be wanted for betting on something else. So there can be some advantage in cashing the bet early - but on the other hand if the company does wind up quickly at zero, no sbettor wants to miss out on that. If sticking with a bet, there is also the risk of some peculiar corporate action being involved if the company is deemed worthy of rescue - and I don't much like getting caught by those. I was once short of a stock that made a rights issue of free shares - which i was deemed to have accepted - which meant I then held a downbet taken out at zero on shares which had instantly acquired a market value substantially above that ;o/ PS: Another thing - sbet firms are free to vary their margin requirements and their quoted spreads. If they suddenly increase the percentage margin required on a particular stock, some account holders will find themselves in breach of account limits and be forced to exit, without the market price having moved at all. Which is why it is worth maintaining some headroom within ones sbet account and not being fully marginned. So many possibilities. And I am not immune to the occasional wrong call, so don't anyone copy me. Each must make their own judgment. | m.t.glass

22/5/2008 11:09 | Shorters, IG would pay out on a value of zero if shareholders got nowt, once administrators have done their work. Would anyone like to hazzard a guess as to how long they are likely to take with LAN? Would shareholders get zilch with LAN? Am I jumping the gun? What is your strategy MT Glass? You are the King of Shorters after all. | homeboy35
