KEFI Gold & Copper PLC said Monday that the Ethiopian Ministry of Mines has granted it until July 8 to achieve project financing and launch commitments for its Tulu Kapi gold project.

The AIM-listed mining company also said that the civil war has abated after reaching a peak at the end of December, and the state of emergency has been lifted. It plans to restart project development activities that were suspended in 2021 as a precautionary measure due to the security situation.

"To have turned the corner in Ethiopia at the same time as our Saudi venture is taking off makes for a very promising 2022," Executive Chairman Harry Anagnostaras-Adams said.

Shares at 0848 GMT were up 0.04 pence, or 5%, at 0.75 pence.
