Three killed in Ethiopia shootout as regional rebellions spill into the capital

Three people have been killed during a shootout between militiamen and police officers in Ethiopia’s capital in a rare case of one of the country’s many regional rebellions spilling into the city

Dud first Bake was OLF not presumed Ola. The Government Is not under Amahric control the Oromia region is now more influential.

The government is not the only people that had a problem with him with the ethnic rivalries and factions even with groups.

The Tigrayans are not about to kick things off in fact were helped by government forces with a soft temporary takeover of Alamata city to enable displaced person to return home and they are preoccupied with internal problems and it did not work out so well last time.

You do not have to astute to say yes to life changing money and a new house and School for you kids. Ethically should bring much needed jobs and wealth to the area.

Maybe when you googled Bake you ended up on the Great British Bake off site ;)

Interesting use of your time for a share you are presumably not invested in.Bored much lol? No friends? Wife left you? Dog doesn't wanna play with you? Golf club revoked your membership?

Back on topic, The killing of Bake Urgessa (assumed OLA/), was in fact a very passive young guy. So why?

The only people that had an issue with him were the government (Amhara's control).

The Gov't, although a majority of Amhara, are in fact a minority compared to Oromo,

more so if Tigrayans decided to join in a possible conflict.

The Oromo people, although compliant for many years (agriculture very productive and in their little huts around Tula Kapi), maybe more astute than you think.

The Oromo people, despite being a majority, have been classed as SERFS for years!

My short closed due to checking history and current events.

Friends of Bake Urgessa would really like to hear from you.

I class the whole episode as unethical, not for me.

PS: The mining area is Ayra Guilliso, agricultural land, not as shown in the 2015 original KEFI scene photo of bare Moreland (probably Dartmoor)!

What is KEFI's idea? To move the farmers to luxury apartments with large swaives of ground for them to continue their lucrative coffee bean growing?

(Semi Off topic) well looks like Israel will hit back must be tempting to hit Iran's Nuclear facilities depending on how practical that is.

Action with bitcoin compared to gold suggests that gold will look a better safe haven bet against political uncertainty as Bitcoin is more sentiment driven.

There have been some worries in the Market since yesterday afternoon, but so far the Metal shares are keeping safe.

The FTSE 100 open well down with 100 points in the red.

With signs of stickiness in inflation, a mid-year Fed rate cut is looking increasingly unlikely and simmering global tensions.

It seems this afternoon the Market is very volatile

All indices are moving lower

OIL prices are much the same

and Gold and Bitcoin are following the same trend

I wonder what most avatars would consider to be too high a proportion of their portfolio in KEFI.

1%? 1.5%? Surely not anywhere near 2%?

Very few leverage golds plays on
the LSE outside mature producers
or pure explorers.
So anyone who fancies gold where
do they invest?
Kefi carries a lot of baggage but
no one can deny its potential.

Perhaps. But I wouldn't change anything, except perhaps some timing.

I am wholly confident this will pay, big time.

Unless we go into a third World War, and I don't think that will happen. Probability of WWIII, < 5% IMHO.

I would love to buy more, but I have far too high a proportion of my portfolio in this company, so I cannot allow myself to buy more. Fortunately, however, about 80% is in ISAs.

I did buy some into my ISA in April 2023 - so you imagination is a little faulty, Barry!

I suspect most of them are locked in at humungous multiples of the current share price Highley1. I shouldnt imagine for a moment that most of the LTH have even thought about buying any in years, it is simply a case of monitoring sunk costs in the main.

I do wonder why everyone remains invested here, when there are some really good producing mining stocks in the UK and elsewhere rising in price currently due to the rising price of gold.

This is a slow painful death, you can always return if KEFI actually ever sign a deal, you may miss the initial rise but there will be time to re-invest, as construction will still need to be done, with all the risks that entails.

All you're doing is parking your money in limbo when it could be put to better use elsewhere IMHO.
