08/1/2009 23:00 | Nobody interested in this at present? fair enough, I'll talk to myself for now... wouldn't be the first time :) On brief inspection they certainly have some impressive projects (past and future). Russia certainly doesn't make life easy for the Ukraine at times. However, reports do suggest that the country is weathering the storm better than some in Eastern Europe. Overall I've found mostly positive articles relating to Ukraine (in regards to this sector). The following article does point out some sticking points for the country as a whole though. It suggests that "inflation and economic relations with Russia remain flies in the ointment": Ukraine's GDP is still growing by 7.3% year-on-year "despite suffering energy price shocks, political instability and global financial turmoil". Energy issues currently receiving news coverage are definitely an issue in the short term. Having spent a lot of time researching the Russian Energy sector I can see this being a critical factor for them over the next year or so. Inflation is also a concern, but manageable IMO. With all the current uncertainties in the sector (globally), I think this must be viewed with a long term perspective. Ukraine's economy is really struggling at the moment, so I don't expect a recovery anytime soon. However, This will be a great investment IF the Co weathers the storm well. I intend to do a little bit of trading in the meanwhile on any small fluctuations (as I did in December). J04. Ps. Will post something re fundamentals when I actually get round to doing some solid research. | jamesonline04
06/1/2009 13:46 | It does look to have pretty much reached the floor this one (5.5p). I bought quite a few today and will hold and wait for the recovery. Very low volume for as long as I can remember. It appears to have huge potential though so I'm in. from a recent poster elsewhere: "the numbers appear good - around 100 employees, use of subcontractors, cash deposits (over USD 60mln net cash), tight holding (just over 30% free float), approval for share buybacks up to 2 quid, NAV of USD 1 Billion (granted, with september 2008 valuation) but still way undervalued as even if its assets/projects dropped by 50%, that's still USD 500 mln value (compared to 20-30 mln market value)". | jamesonline04
23/12/2007 12:32 | This company has done well to get its IPO off in the context of the current market jitters caused by the US sub-prime mortgage crisis and the seizing up of the credit markets. The pricing of the IPO is at the bottom end of what was recently predicted, which is good news for anyone looking for a value play. Other Ukrainian property plays are XXI Century and Dragon. | darcon |
