21/7/2011 09:39 | The main providers of the Network itself are BT Wholesale, Global Crossing and Cable & Wireless. Virgin Media will underpin the PSN with its fibre optic network. Working alongside the large network suppliers are vendors such as Kcom - which is also involved with the Cabinet Office PSN Programme to help develop the standards that will underpin the PSN. Kcom previously went by the name of Kingston Communications, and you might know it as the dedicated telecoms supplier to Kingston-upon-Hull, and provider of the cream-coloured telephone boxes! More recently Kcom has added to its portfolio with SaaS offereings (more specifically hosted email and SharePoint), alongside other managed application services. However, it is clear there is more in the tank and we expect to see the breadth of its offerings grow over the next six months most likely playing to its focus around unified communications and collaboration. | mumbys | |
