20/5/2004 22:55 | Before WW2, some 70,000 Jews lived in Krakow, mostly in the suburb of Kazimierz. Today the Jewish Quarter is slowly transforming itself from its sorry dilapidated post war state thanks to the profile that Krakow received after the success of the film, 'Schindler's List'. We explore this tiny area visiting the Old Synagogue, the museum of History & Culture of Krakow Jewry and following the 'Retracing Schindler's List' tour. This afternoon we visit the Salt Mine at Wieliczka that has been operating for some 700 years. Within its labyrinth of 300km of tunnels we will discover its chapels, underground lakes and museum. Returning to our hotel, we spend the evening enjoying some lively local entertainment during our farewell dinner. | hopi
20/5/2004 22:49 | Krakow - 20 May'04 - 22:44 - 12 of 12 What other usernames did you consider.. Treblinka, Belsen, Sobibor ... ==================== Check out of our hotel and drive to Krakow via the Death Camp of Majdanek, where the barracks, guard towers and long lines of (formerly) electrified double barbed wire remain just as they were over fifty years ago. Here you will find the only remaining gas chamber that is completely in tact. Check in to our hotel in Krakow for four nights. Day 5. Today we have a guided tour of the architectural wealth of Krakow's Old Town with its busy street life. In the afternoon we will visit the Wawel, the very symbol of Poland. Its cathedral has seen the coronation and funeral of nearly all of Poland's monarchs and is the last resting place of many of them. We will explore the castle and go in search of the legendary Wawel Dragon. | hopi

20/5/2004 21:41 | andy Plums and grapefruit are the only things I've noticed in the shops. The plums were in packs at a price to deter even the most rabid of hopis and their sell by date was up. The grapefruit slightly undercut Floria ones but the latter went and the Israelis remained. There's something of a not-in-front-of-the vicar attitude to discussing IT. You see what I mean. I am unsure how you describe IT. Tyranny and oppression sound too gentle. Perhaps IT is just too awful and bewildering. Gerald Kaufman spoke in a sad and touching way to ask Blair to condemn the continual attacks but Blair was mealy mouthed. People may take it out on him rather than avoiding goods which are elusive anyway. Vote Lib-Dem for the European parliament as a protest. Anyone other than Labour in the 'Locals'. | maplinrover

20/5/2004 11:45 | I also feel UK supermarkets should be asked not to stock any Israeli produce. A few emails would help! Dont want to be anti-semitic, but feel UK public could make feelings known! | andy2000
20/5/2004 11:42 | Well, heres Tel Aviv 100 for starters | andy2000
20/5/2004 11:31 | I agree. Do you have a list of Israeli companies/products to boycott? | opthalmist |
