Have been considering this one but brokers seem to be giving negative positions. For instance 8/3/01. UBS Warburg has reiterated its “sell” stance.

STOCKWATCH Independent Insurance slides as HSBC Securities turns more cautious
LONDON (AFX) - Shares in beleaguered Independent Insurance Group PLC were
among the major fallers within the Mid Caps in midmorning trade as house broker
HSBC Securities turned slightly more cautious on the insurer's near-term price
performance, dealers said.
Independent Insurance shares have been under the cosh since its shock
profits alert, with yesterday's full year figures -- though broadly in line with
revised expectations -- failing to provide any real comfort to the market.
HSBC is understood to have cut its recommendation on Independent Insurance
back to a 'add' from the previous 'buy', with its price target also under
review.
But the broker has maintained its 2001 operating profit estimate for
Independent Insurance at 72 mln stg -- the figure it downgraded to when the
insurer first highlighted an expected 20 mln stg profits shortfall in 2000.
Other brokers, however, are understood to be much more downbeat on
Independent Insurance's profits performance this year, with downgrades said to
be imminent to current year estimates.
By 9.19 am, Independent Insurance shares were down 10 pence at 220 pence, a
fall of just over 4 pct and the fourth largest decliner in the FTSE 250 index.

I am surprised no one has said anything about this stock in light of yesterdays trading statement. I know this Company very well and have held their shares for many years. Go onto trades and you will see the big take up of stock today. Still more stock at these low levels is available, but it wont be for very long. I am filling my pockets and you will see that I am right by mid summer or earlier. Pls DYOR.
Update 6/3/01
Amazing reaction to the same news as last month and a hike in the final dividend. Watch for Director's purchases in the new future.

Braindrain thank you for the honest posting,I sought of guessed but didn't want to put you in a difficult position by being to direct. I first discovered these when Bright etc... were heavily buying,1995 I think ? I like buying IIG once in a while (research is easier & quicker on a company one knows) & am obviously holding at present. Let me know when everybody is travelling around in company limos & jets ! Hi guys interesting Braindrain be careful! I have worked in this sector for many years and further to my posting on ESI and further info you disclose this sound s even more spooky than I originally thought!! You might want to do some research on a company called Sphere Drake which followed a similar pattern to IIg (Sphere Drake used to be on the Dow Jones).
