Let's see - economic cycles and the share price:

So where is the good place to buy - £2 or £5 - £7? And if we check the dividends, there are unbroken rises going back to at least 1998. I was here in the last recession. It was full of scares yet the dividend kept rising. And the company is bigger now. Should it really be expected to go back to £2 just because there is contract provision that equates to 1/4 of operating cashflow for two years - and a suggestion that the cost of this provision might even be mitigated? /font>

Sal, you will forgive me if I don't wish you the best of luck with your 185p target. 230p will do fine for me for a small top-up.

At this rate I might well get the chance to buy back in at 185!
Crazy times!

Another support and build company, went from pounds to pence and bust on similar problems with contracts

Very true. More than a month ago, though. Unlikely to see my money back as I've realised they are in big trouble, especially as directors tried to lie about it at first.

Bendipa , you presumably didn't think that you had lost the plot when you posted that you paid 396 a month ago?

Me too. I think Mr Market is enjoying the silly season a bit too enthusiastically!

Are you an insider then?

The market hasn't lost the plot. Insiders already know the next set of results will be bad, likely div cut etc. The only people who have lost the plot are the management for being dishonest a few months ago, first suggesting all was hunky-dory, and those who think the share price is currently cheap.

A yield of 10% is getting a bit silly. One way or the other somethingn has to give.

I recall years ago Rolls Royce got so cheap the yield was 12%; all the pundits predicted a dividend cut. In the event they were wrong and at around 90p it was one of the best buying opportunities in a FT100 company I have seen. Just saying the market doesn't always get it right...

I just always feel that PIs are the last to know and if a share price is tanking there is usually something that the institutions know that we don't.
I hope I am wrong but too often I am right.
I can hardly believe how close the share price is to the 185p I first bought them at all those years ago.

Wad collector, it is all a gamble indeed! However I see nothing to make me believe these are going up anytime soon. The half-year report may give some idea of what is going on, what the future pipeline looks like etc. Due first half of August if it follows usual timetable.

Because the share price may have risen by then?
Ultimately it is all a gamble , I fail to understand today's drop , but maybe I am looking for a logic that is not there.

I have been in and out of these for 15 years. Would not consider buying more before 2017, just feel they are not done yet. Report next month - so why not wait and see what that says?

hmm. Even I am getting tempted at this price. Only thing holding me back is that I've already got a huge pile of construction and builders and don't really want any more.

Market has lost the plot. Do we really think this share isn't going to be 400 in 3 years time? however, history shows me I may be able to get it in lower yet!

I am sorely tempted but think I will wait for the next market update before committing.
I want to be absolutely clear that they are not going to add to the provision for the bad contract.
If the divi is safe then it must rally back to at least 400p but again I remain to be convinced that it will be covered.

Well, it is either the end of the world or there are an awful lot of seriously oversold stocks out there today.
