12/5/2015 09:15 | Not expensive imo. 80,000 employees- that's a headache. | philo124
12/5/2015 08:51 | Disappointing reaction but I will hold for the moment. The UK construction market has been a basket case for years now and I struggle to understand why a diversified business like IRV has not gradually withdrawn from the sector. | salpara111
12/5/2015 08:47 | Trading update out. | philo124
11/5/2015 12:57 | Despite the big bounce on Friday I just get the feeling that there is poor sentiment towards IRV, I cannot work out why myself so am happy to hold for the foreseeable future. | salpara111
11/5/2015 12:45 | Ditto; pity no follow through today, so far. | philo124
11/5/2015 11:30 | I still have far too many of these for my portfolio but am very happy to hold ; like CLLN these are a strong long term play in my view esp with this Government. Bet the brokers wake up soon. | wad collector
10/5/2015 09:43 | edmundshaw, You're right to pick me up on that. Re-reading my post I should have used the word "tied" as opposed to "linked". What I am stressing about IRV is that it is not simply a government out-sourcer. But yes certainly as you say all those sectors are linked to opportunities to win contracts and certainly the election result is positive for IRV and I have no-doubt that a number of IIs that have sold/ reduced positions will seek to take /increase. | thorpematt
08/5/2015 19:02 | Agree salpara. Matt, you say a business model not linked to government spending? That perplexes me a bit, not sure what you mean, as there are many links both in support services and construction to the NHS, universities, prison services and the military. In addition, other parts of the business are certainly going to be impacted by government policy (transport and construction generally, for example). In support services, for example, business is 50/50 public/private (irv's own data), and services comprise 63% of the business by op. profit (57% in the UK). That is why the election result is so pleasing from the Interserve investment standpoint, imho. | edmundshaw
08/5/2015 17:11 | Well, I would be happy to see a return to last year's high around 750p which should now be realistic | salpara111
08/5/2015 11:52 | I think a lot of IIs moved out of the sector well in advance of the election as it presented an obvious un-certainty. Indeed there are brokers notes that detailed as such. We now enter a re-evaluation period based upon the seemingly unlikely majority now held be the Tories. Personally I felt IRVs price to be so cheap and its business model more robust so that these concerns did not worry me but IIs need to protect wealth and risk aversion is needed. I don't believe their caution was totally unfounded sine bankers and private businesses taking over previously public-controlled functions have always been whipping boys for Labour in particular. You never know for sure what stunts get pulled and what taxes levied. Of course the Tories are not immune from such polices shocks. I recall EAGA (now part of CLLN) whose share lost significant value when budget speech killed their funding. Prior to the 2010 election (and few will remember it now) I was sick and tired of seeing Cameron go on a bout the environment. He seemed to be forever riding his bicycle. Funny how that tuned changed once the economy came to the fore. In any event I believe IRV stands fine on its own as a diverse business model NOT linked into government spending. FWIW I have a valuation at £9.80 | thorpematt
08/5/2015 11:48 | Political certainty with an EU referendum hanging over UK industry?? | deadly
08/5/2015 11:31 | 5 years of political certainty vs none. | philo124
08/5/2015 11:16 | While I am happy as someone who bought back into this one at 575 a couple of months ago I still struggle to see why the election result should have such a big impact given the long term contract nature of their business and global operating footprint. Still....happy to see it finally move off the 575 line where is has been becalmed for some time. | salpara111
08/5/2015 09:21 | edmundshaw, I do believe you are right : pearls of wisdom indeed. | dogwalker
08/5/2015 07:58 | Election result probably a plus here. | edmundshaw
07/5/2015 23:27 | Wot me Guv? | philo124
07/5/2015 22:05 | You starting a bid rumour again? The share price has been remarkably static for the last 3 weeks , not much of a ripple . Perhaps a tsunami will be unleashed tomorrow with an unexpected election result. Or not. Happy to hold. | wad collector
07/5/2015 14:01 | Interesting , maybe a bid. | philo124
07/5/2015 13:44 | Generally IRV is a volatile stock in a small way. No idea why, though... | edmundshaw
07/5/2015 13:15 | Up 8.00 in a falling market. Anyone know what this is all about. | bertiebru
17/4/2015 11:21 | heh heh, yup :-) | edmundshaw
17/4/2015 09:40 | Yes , about half the time... | wad collector
17/4/2015 07:58 | Calm down waddy, IC sometimes get it right. No, really. | edmundshaw
16/4/2015 22:53 | Arrghh .. the kiss of death ...just noticed that IC tipped IRV last week at 580p citing overseas expansion and balanced exposure to private and public sectors. Might as well sell the lot . | wad collector |
