Why would Infonic sell Lexalytiics when the company is, or at least was before the merger, self financing and like for like was more profitable than Infonic. Yes, text analysis eats up cash through R & D but that will always be the case because language is fluid and is constantly changing according to societal convention. Add to that the new languages coming into being such as mobile text and the new concepts such as Weak Speak.

I believe that the combined company Lexalytics Limited being based in the UK is not just because it is convenient for Infonic, but also because Jeff Catlin's business partner Mike Marshall is based in Scotland and must surely be involved in the day to day running of Lexalytics Limited.

Would Infonic sell Lexalytics Limited and in so doing enable it to become a competitor, moreover a competitor with an intimate knowledge of Infonic's technology?

Personally, I doubt it.

Think they might be better to wait until the market improves - would be tough to get a fair price in the current climate. Sure it will be under consideration at some stage though Joe.

egoi - something tells me that they might consider floating off lexalytics in the foreseeable future to raise funds? The rest of the business appears to finance itself, whereas the text analytics is one of those business that eats R&D spend but could reap big rewards in the future?

Will take a real good look at the balance sheet here. 3.5p would look cheap on most metrics, but how is cash/cashflow (they should have the money from that big fundraising at the start of the period, how much of it has gone in the fire?); how's debt and what's the current outlook, margins overall and order book.

Turnover I take as read from previous statements will be buoyant, but it isn't really the key fctor for me. Might become a bit like FWY where the sum of the parts is way above the share price, but FWY took many years to benefit from that.

Should be very illuminating!

Yes, let's hope so,

Apart from other things I am intrigued to see where the figure of $4.75m awarded against the contract for the US Navy Collaboration at Sea Program, the majority of which was deferred from last year, will be shown on the Balance Sheet.

Have a pleasant weekend peeps.

Edit: That is providing we get the results on Monday.

It isn't likely imo that Gordon Brown would benefit from any reputation management marketing by Lexalytics as both he, as a politician, and PoliicalTrends Info are loss leaders, but in Lexalytics case, with PoliticalTrends, that is deliberate policy.

PoliticalTrends doesn't need to be a standalone success because its main purpose is as a showcase for Lexalytics's technology. Although any financial gains will be welcome.

Gordon seems to be stood alone so what is the Labour Party machine doing/planning?

Cynical, moi?

Broomsticks - interesting news about lexalytics - I think Gordon Brown could use some of their Reputation Management software!

On the dollar, I guess we derive a significant proportion of revenue in dollars and as it strengthens it should translate into higher sterling revenues. Of course such gains can be temporary, but it certainly helps at the moment.

borsya, I wouldn't like to guess, but if past results are anything to judge by, then it will be late in the day whichever day it is.

Some news,

Lexalytics analytics has got Cymfony and Vocus.

No financial figures given.

What were you saying about the US dollar joe?

Top Market Intelligence Companies Turn to Lexalytics for Powerful Sentiment Analysis

Increasing demand for additional insight into unstructured content drives key players to implement Lexalytics text analytics solutions
Amherst, MA (PRWEB) September 22, 2008 --

Lexalytics, Inc. (www.lexalytics.com), a software and services company specializing in text analysis and social media monitoring (SMM), today announced two new customer initiatives that solidify Lexalytics' position as the premiere text analytics vendor of-choice for innovators in the public relations/market intelligence industry. The momentum is fueled by increasing demand for sentiment analysis and entity extraction capabilities that help companies quickly discover, react and respond to market biases or opinions.

The first is a new project with Cymfony, a market influence analytics company that scans and interprets the millions of voices at the intersection of consumer-generated and traditional media to gain consumer insight and develop stronger bonds with influencers. The second is a license agreement with Vocus, Inc. (NASDAQ: VOCS), a leading provider of on-demand software for public relations management. Both companies will leverage Lexalytics' Salience Engine technology to support text analytics in their respective platforms. The agreements add to Lexalytics' already robust portfolio of leading PR/marketing industry customers, which includes in-place agreements with BurrellesLuce, Maroon Ventures, Millward Brown Precis and Scout Labs.

"Cymfony and Vocus are true leaders in the areas of reputation management and brand analysis. They are moving the industry forward by offering insight and solutions that provide marketing and PR professionals the tools necessary to grasp the power of blogs and online media," said Jeff Catlin, CEO for Lexalytics. "Lexalytics will continue to offer the reputation management industry the highest standards of text analytics solutions to help them locate the information online that their customers need to know."

With the recent merger announcement with Infonic, Lexalytics continues to offer innovative and market-driving technologies that enable their partners to grow and expand their product platforms. Lexalytics' upcoming fall release of Salience 4.0 will offer customers the best-of-breed solutions for entity extraction, sentiment analysis, theme extraction and document summarization. The company recently released Acquisition Engine 6.2 to meet the demands of clients looking to query Google for online content, as well as offer an HTML extraction capability to streamline and ingest clean HTML content from web pages.

About Lexalytics:

joestraughan,

Giving the benefit of the doubt and being conservative imo the valuation of the whole business is approx. 80% incorrect.

Broomsticks - good one! If MT values whole business at $100m, then he's 90% incorrect at the moment! Still, if he can make the business reach that value, I shan't be complaining! And if they want to float lexalytics off for $40m, they can do that too!
joestraughan

Yeah - you're not the only one! Well I'm looking forward to these numbers to see how close they come to warranting a $40m valuation by MT of just the analytics business alone - hopefully the USA elections will put alot of business to lexalytics?

Hopefully, yes. It could possibly be negotiations for pac con's holding? I guess somebody will clean up the holding at a very good price? Unless, the company itself is bidding for them - it would restore some faith if they were?!!

egoi - presumably dollar revenues should be going in ifnc's favour?

joestraughan

Ironic isn't it - if I recall PacCon got shares at 2.88p! Directors bought over 5p. The market seems to be moving to the idea of which had the more sense!!

More seriously though I think any small/micro with a questionable balance sheet (yes I know some of you think it to be better than I do) is vulnerable in this market, especially when results are imminent.
