01/10/2008 16:03 | 1 October 2008 The Indian Film Company ("IFC" or the "Company") 'Kidnap' first of four new releases for 2008 The Indian Film Company (AIM:IFC), a leading Bollywood film investment company, is pleased to announce the planned release of four new films before the end of the calendar year. 'Kidnap', the first of the four, set for release on 2 October 2008, is directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, whose previous release 'Dhoom 2' grossed £21 million worldwide. The film will star Imran Khan, who made his debut in 'Jaane Tu', which grossed £11 million worldwide. This will be followed by 'Golmaal Returns' on 29 October 2008, starring Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi & others, the film is a sequel to the successful 'Golmaal'. In December the Company has lined up two further releases: 'Dil Kabaddi', a witty urban comedy, set for release on 5 December 2008 and the eagerly awaited 'Ghajini ' starring Aamir Khan set for release in time for Christmas. Sandeep Bhargava, CEO of the investment advisor to the Company, remarked: "With the outstanding performance of our recent releases such as "Singh Is Kinng" and "Welcome" at the box office, and the exciting line up of upcoming films, we continue to demonstrate the strength and success of our business model." He added: "It demonstrates our continued focus on bringing quality films that entertain and reach out to a larger audience base worldwide" Recent Work The Company's first three major releases, 'Jab We Met', 'Welcome' and 'Singh Is Kinng' accumulated worldwide box office gross returns of £45.15 million. 'Welcome' and 'Singh Is Kinng' both achieved box office records in their opening weeks illustrating the Company's commitment to marketing and releasing its films to the widest possible audience. 'Welcome', released on 1350 screens in 18 countries, set an opening week box office record for a comedy, grossing £6.35 million and went on to become the highest grossing Bollywood comedy of all time with box office returns of £18 million. 'Singh Is Kinng', released on 1700 screens across 20 countries, set a new opening weekend and opening week box office record by grossing £7.35 million and £11.42 million respectively. If returns are not available then they won't invest. There is a large seller in the background who is shifting stock.
