Trust me, Inchcape won't be running up any form of debt again any time soon. I used to work in the finance department at Inchcape. Back end of 2008 they were a hairs breadth away from going under because they had built up huge debt through aggressive acquisitions and when the depression hit this debt was unserviceable and banking covenants were about to be broken.

Through the rights issue, a massive reduction in working capital and a program of "cost base restructuring" (i.e. redundancies - which thankfully I managed to avoid) the Company was debt free by the end of 2009 and in a great position to gain competitive advantage over their rivals.

Believe me, lessons have been learnt and this Company will go from strength to strength.

Best share I've owned since European Motor Holdings (taken over, by Inch I think)!

Cars are not going out of fashion and servicing them makes money! As long as they don't ring up too many debts that can't be afforded!

Nice to see a wee bit of blue on a red day. Talk that nice growth in Far East is what's propelling these higher.

volsung, just to make you aware, my Dad called INCH today and was
told there would be no Pre Close statement.
He grabbed a quick profit and sold today, I may have held if it was my trade.

Besides Vitec(VTC) which is my strongest share pick idea for 2011,
INCH looks value to me - and there is very little of that left now imo.

If you see value, grab it imv.
