Losos, it`s all just delaying the inevitable. It`s lookng like the greek government will fall anyway and the country will default.

Portugal and Italy will follow and the sooner this is sorted the better. The whole EU plan is a dogs breakfast. Everything at the moment is just to try and save the french and german banks which are going to have to take an almighty hit and quite rightly too.

People all over europe are going to have to get used to a lower standard of living while working longer.

There`ll be bargains to be had at some stage.

philanderer - "The full-year dividend is (filter) tipped to rise to 94.1p from 84.3p last year" Groan....lol

But 13% rise in the divi will do for me - I will top slice this one at some point too 'tho (as usual)I probably should have done so last week!!!

killieboy - "why do people run scared when markets fall - no wonder brokers make a fortune................!!!"

I don't know either killieboy, but it does present an opportunity to top up on some of my holdings, 'tho as mentioned above the news from Greece makes me think we are in for a turbulent few months, I'm just hoping they will get GS in to count the referendum votes in Greece, that ought to make sure the result comes out right!!!!

Sold half my holding here this morning - and also half of all my other equity holdings .... just too worried about where the Eurozone is going and having to wait until january for this Greek referendum.

Back to 90% cash portfolio for the time being

Unlucky to be bringing out results on a day like this.

Eurozone now a total shambles. Greece just a basket case and Italy not far behind.

Markets set for a very poor end to the year. Will be looking to lighten several equity holdings

Finland..

...Although the tax on factory-manufactured cigarettes will also rise, the main losers in the move will be Imperial Tobacco, which manufactures loose tobacco and cheaper brands.
Initially the government was proposing a 15 per cent increase on loose tobacco. However, last week, the government decided to revise the increase to 25 per cent.

Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Unilever, Imperial Tobacco Group Plc and BT Group Plc may be among companies in the Stoxx Europe 600 Index to raise dividends next week, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

MFool..

There won't be many full-year results next week, but one that will be worth watching for is Imperial Tobacco (LSE: IMT) on Tuesday. Coming right after a nine-month update from British American Tobacco (LSE: BATS), it should show steady earnings growth.

Imperial, which does a lot more of its business in Western Europe than does British American and so looks less attractive to me, did suffer a dip during the worst of the economic crisis. But earnings have bounced back, and there's likely to be a decent dividend announced

Brokers were bullish on British American Tobacco (BAT) after the cigarette manufacturer said that revenue had risen 7pc during the first nine months of the year........BAT's positive update also helped its peer, Imperial Tobacco, puff up 71p to £22.80.
