02/11/2017 18:54 | Well, it is the end of an era for IMG and many long term shareholders. With trading ended at c.o.p. today, the book has finally closed on IMG as an independent. It was a journey of nearly 20 years for me, until I sold my final stock last Sept. It was a roller coaster ride but was worthwhile in the end. I just wanted to post here for the last time on this momentous day to thank all those who posted here regularly over the years and made this the best investment BB on the net, IMO. Good luck to all Imagineers for your future investments. I am keeping my fingers crossed for FST, which may turn out to be another IMG from circa a decade ago. Best of luck also to the talented engineers at IMG. I hope things work out for them with CB and that they take Apple to the cleaners in court. Once again, thanks for all the useful info shared here by many over the years. It is a shame that IMG never really scaled the heights its potential deserved and that it ended this way. PS. Just think what might have been if Geoff Shingles had reined in Hossein, and Electronic Arts had supported the Dreamcast. | life of crime
02/11/2017 17:49 | Good luck to everyone invested here, and I hope you all have made a tidy sum of money . Roll on xmas LOL | tombelfast
02/11/2017 17:32 | Right Ian, turn the lights off please will you ? COYI ! | hammerd2
02/11/2017 15:41 | Last orders please. Trading ends at 4:30pm today. | swiftnick
01/11/2017 10:52 | LoL! I don't need salt... I can stomach this merge. EDIT: "The stupid white man" Yeah, well, following a Marxist ideology not too smart either... especially if, when found guilty, you could face the firing squad! Lol! | sogoesit
01/11/2017 09:03 | Sweenoid - IMG have responded to concerns about the Canyon Bridge Capital Partner's founder being a fit person to be in control of a UK company by pulling forward the Court Hearing from 6 Nov to tomorrow, Thursday 2 Nov, so minimising the chance of interference or further doubts surfacing about the appropriateness of this deal. Once the court order is obtained they will rush it over to Companies House to get the change of ownership registered. Then CBFI Investments Ltd will own IMG. This holding company's two directors reside in Hong Kong and the USA. However today there is something else everyone can taunt IMG shareholders with, IMG will receive the royalty statement from Apple for the first time clearly indicating whether or not Apple will pay IMG royalties on the iPhone 8 + X. Bet you won't see an RNS on that any time soon. As it would likely rub salt into the shareholders wounds. | borromini1
01/11/2017 08:01 | Former IMG look set to dominate low power Neural Network / Machine Learning. 5 times faster than Apple and twice as fast as the nearest competitor. And that's the entry level. I believe it will be more important to "former IMG" than graphics on smartphones. And arguably the most important computing technology for the next few years (decade?). Until Quantum Computing probably. Don't believe the IMG board really pushed this. And will the suits who advised them know or care? Like Estate Agents they just want the sale to go through to book a bonus. They don't care about the price. Some long reads for 'academic' reasons now: hxxp://blog.trueinte Thrown away. Still, we can all go out with our meagre return and buy a copy of "How to have a Chinese Street Party for Dummies". As a colleague who travelled in the Far East told me; a phrase they use out there, which translates as: The stupid white man. | srsm
01/11/2017 07:35 | A cool loss of thousands here. Should I throw the cash remaining at IQE and see it follow the trend of British high tech companies or shed my tears in BOOHOO? Please vote. Thanks. | sogoesit
31/10/2017 23:40 | sweenoid, insider trading is punished very harshly in the USA. maybe prison. | nod
31/10/2017 20:46 | I am very sorry I have not been paying attention to IMG ever since they stopped sending the paper annual report as I dont like giving out my email. So the employees have got a good deal but likely lost their future jobs through copying and recreating in China. The new Chairman has coshed the shareholders and picked up several million for the job of some months. The UK losing a high tech high value ecosystem that lacked a strong backer to enforce higher prices and make the company a unicorn and more. The technology and ray tracing will be vital and the DTI etc should refer it on national security grounds IMHO and the loss of vital productive industrys. Apple will now have a spike in its eye and see if those stolen engineers can make up 25 years of design expertise and avoid all the patents and software techniques of IMG. Sold out. Its been 23 years since Videologic and I won a stock picking competition for my pick and the analysis as to why I would win before I did. Its been a long time since you could buy them for 25p, 27p, 29, 30,31,33, 35 and 38p. Only the state left to intervene as those as yet to be determined shares worth 30million seems to be the bribe that someone is going to get (expect disappointed faces for many and delight on those that turned their back and allowed the stitch up of shareholders. I will wait and see. | winsome3
31/10/2017 16:53 | In practice there are always holders willing to sell at the offer price or slightly below because it means they get their money sooner and can get invest it elsewhere. That's why the price is currently below 182p. | mmc71
31/10/2017 16:51 | Thank you mmc. Does that mean that if the institution that runs your nominee account lends the shares to a shorter that you are then unable to vote?? | jamesrowe
31/10/2017 16:42 | What do they do if they can't buy back because there are not enough sellers? Do they have to force the price above the agreed bid price? | 1mthead
31/10/2017 16:37 | James, neither! The person/company on the other end of the short trade would have the voting rights (ie, whoever bought the shares that the borrowing institution sold short) At some point prior to takeover the institution that is short will have to buy shares back and return them to the lender. | mmc71
31/10/2017 16:30 | Over 11 million shares traded today. Presumably the shorters were burnt to a crisp! Incidentally, can anyone answer 2 Qs that I have about short trading? - If an institution 'borrowed' shares in order to sell short and has not returned them when votes are cast, who gets to vote, the borrower or the lender? - If an institution has 'borrowed' shares then shorted the stock and has not closed its position by the time that the takeover becomes legal & binding then what happens to the short sold shares? Are there any implications for the lender? | jamesrowe
31/10/2017 16:26 | LOL, thanks Pottsey. | realcooltrader
31/10/2017 16:22 | All we need now is a massive settlement from Apple and a late counter-bid.... :-) :-) Don't hold your breath though.... That is about as likely as Donald Trump becoming president.... Ooooh errr... Did that really happen? | jamesrowe
31/10/2017 16:19 | And I wonder whatever happened to Anakin. | swiftnick
31/10/2017 16:17 | Regs took a year long break from forums but was spotted semi recently over at IQE disagreeing with some of the IMG members who moved there. | pottsey
31/10/2017 15:48 | I presume that's that then, shame. I have held since the VideoLogic days, have followed this board but rarely posted. Thanks to all those who posted and good luck to all. Whatever happened to JJ? | realcooltrader
31/10/2017 12:57 | Thank you. That is helpful. | jamesrowe
31/10/2017 12:35 | The waiting period is the minimum time that the companies need to allow for the authorities (DOJ, FTC) to look at a merger/purchase before they can proceed and go ahead with the transaction. As this period has now expired it effectively means that it wont be blocked. Thats my understanding of it anyway. | mmc71
31/10/2017 12:14 | Can anyone explain to me the significance of the latest RNS the purpose of which appears to be for Canyon Bridge to announce that: "CBFI announces that the waiting period under the HSR Act, as defined in the scheme document published on 9 October 2017 (the "Scheme Document"), expired at 11.59 p.m. (Eastern Time) on 30 October 2017." | jamesrowe |
