09/2/2009 16:21 | Jinx, what makes you think there will be an interim statement from icap this week? I wasn't expecting one until march. | highlands
09/2/2009 16:09 | Highlands, I am sure that played a major part and it was probably a good move for Tullett. I still think they need to merge with GFI or BGC (unlikely I know) to become a significant player in the electronic business. Anyway, it looks like the market is betting on a good interim statement this week - nice 9% rise so far today - I do hope the share price continues to rise for all those who are still showing a paper loss - I closed my IAP postion in December at £2.91 (at a loss) - BARC/LLOY/RBS are doing nicely for me so I am sticking with them for the time being - good luck all. | jinxo777
06/2/2009 19:08 | I think they are saving their cash to invest in companies (LCH for one) rather than buying their own shares - a lot of consolidation is expected in the idb business and in the post transaction/settleme Look at GFI with their reliance on Credit Derivatives - they are taking a real beating in the States and closed a few desks in London - they will be swallowed by one of the big guys eventually. Tullet are not big on the electronic side and will probably try and grow by buying established companies (I still can't figure out why the merge with GFI fell through not one but twice - they both looked a bit silly the 2nd time around!). I reckon one from Cantor (BGC), GFI, Tullet, Tradition will not exist come the end of the year - anyone keen to predict which one? Anyway, I will be sitting on the fence for a while longer. Good luck with your investments and you trading. Jinxo. | jinxo777
06/2/2009 18:13 | .....and....... Morgan Stanley increasing their stake in IAP's competitor TLPR who are way behind in electronic broking. do I sense some conflict of interest here? | highlands
06/2/2009 18:11 | Have been out of this one for some time - Mike Spencer is still a dealer at heart and I feel he or the company would have bought at this level if he thought there was good value. Also there is a possibility of litigation from Local Authorities for wrong advice on placing money with Icelandic Banks, although money brokers only act as intermediaries! Needless to say some of their markets have shrunk with fewer banks more conservative in the future. | a0148009
06/2/2009 18:00 | Also noticed Newton and Blackrock reduced their holdings before the morgan stanley downgrade. | highlands
06/2/2009 17:06 | ICAP was downgraded again - this time by Morgan Stanley (to well below the current price!). Maybe the crazy lot predicting £1 will get their wish and maybe Michael Spencer is also waiting for £1 before he buys any. | highlands
06/2/2009 16:36 | Highlands - I have been day trading RBS and BARC for the last 2 weeks - I am 60% up on RBS (all poitions now closed) and about 15% up on BARC (I have closed 1/2 my position today as I was overexposed and the results are out next week) - this will do nicely for me especially since I took a huge beating on EMG and I need to start making some money - I am keeping an eye on ICAP as I think they are a good company but I am not getting in until the results. Good luck all. | jinxo777
06/2/2009 16:29 | These were doing nicely until the close. Recently, it has been one step forward and two steps back! jinxo77, if you are in banking shares and are up, I would suggest you start taking profits as they will fall back and probably even lower next time. | highlands
06/2/2009 12:36 | Electronic Broking figures for January were shocking - I am not sure this is going anywhere fast in the near future - they might get to 2.50/2.70 in the next month or so if the banking mini-rally continues but I would expect these to go down to £2 again when the full year results are out - I think these will be a better bargain in the summer - this is just my modest opinion - I am not holding any at the moment - all my money is in the Banking sector which seems to be recovering quite nicely - good luck all. | jinxo777
06/2/2009 12:27 | This needs to break-though 230p - seems to be some resistance. | highlands
05/2/2009 15:21 | Should finish at 230+ | shammytime

02/2/2009 10:24 | if it is any consolation, in the past the share price has fallen initially on most occasions when there has been bid related news and then really rocketed later. I'm not sure if it will be repeated on this occassion though. | highlands
02/2/2009 09:00 | ouch this is hurting now think im gonna go lie in the snow and freeze myself ,hopefully when i thaw out the share price will be back over £3 | dapper don

02/2/2009 08:17 | now confirmed..... Response to Press Speculation (ICAP) TIDMIAP RNS Number : 6101M ICAP PLC 02 February 2009 ? 02/2/2009 01:02 | ICAP-Led Group to Make Offer for LCH.Clearnet Not sure how this will be taken by the market but if true then will one of the parties in the deal, Morgan Stanley, upgrade IAP? (their downgrade previously hammered the SP) | highlands |
