22/12/2008 14:23 | dapper, Buffet correctly predicted this turmoil with his now famous statement "Derivatives are weapons of mass destruction" (I would add "that actually exist" to that). He has a much better track record than most of today's analysts. | highlands
22/12/2008 10:57 | SILVERFEN Buffet WHO BOUGHT INTO GM MOTORS AND GOLDMANS YOU MEAN :O) you are right noone knows for sure but the indicators are that this is not the bottom. One thing we can all agree on though is ,this is not the top :o) Merry Christmas to you all im off to gleneagles . | dapper don
22/12/2008 08:15 | Many people on BBs were suggesting there would be carnage this month, and there hasn't been. Fact is none of us know. Buffet said two months ago the time was right to buy in, so he doesn't know. Last year January's falls surprised after Novemeber's rally. Whatever happens now, I doubt anyone will be quite as surprised - good god, I've just seen reindeer in the sky! | silverfern
20/12/2008 12:18 | So Mr Wallace what are you calling ? and to what price please ? We have certainly imho not seen the bottom of this market January should bring carnage to the hedge funds ,tax returns due end of jan Quarterly rents due 2nd week of month ,job losses will be huge . Ive bought into the market for the first time in 18 months after julys big slump will buy again probably in the 2nd quarter . Markets will recover next year i feel but after the slump. | dapper don
19/12/2008 16:52 | Everyones calling for an imminent big slump. Guess what ? We've already seen it. imo. | barnes wallace
19/12/2008 16:49 | Either way Highlands we are calling a big slump im thinking 3300 on ftse | dapper don
19/12/2008 16:09 | dapper, a new year rally followed by slump is more likely. Then again, what do I know? | highlands
19/12/2008 15:41 | Triple Witching today means the US market will be very volatile. Triple witching is an event that occurs when the contracts for stock index futures, stock index options and stock options all expire on the same day. Triple witching days happen four times a year on the third Friday of March, June, September and December. The final trading hour for that Friday is the hour known as triple witching. The markets are quite volatile in this final hour, as traders quickly offset their option/futures orders before the closing bell. If you are a long-term investor, triple witching will have a minimal impact on you. | highlands
16/12/2008 13:21 | Is there a downgrade on this today? looks that way based on the share price | highlands
10/12/2008 18:49 | I stand corrected i missed that 1 hmmmmmm the movies very close to the trading market NOT ,why not move into pork market or cheese spread ,is Mr Spencer clutching at straws . I get asked to invest in independent films only one of which ive ever seen come to the market that was rise of the footsoldier hardly an epic or a huge money spinner . I know it says market is worth £8 billion but im sure there many many duds amongst them . Blackrock still trading in and out i see | dapper don
09/12/2008 17:41 | shammy, not with blackrock taking profits | highlands
09/12/2008 16:12 | I expected this to be on 310+ today - surprised that it hasn't really taken off. | shammytime
09/12/2008 15:29 | They will have to diversify to survive in the medium term when volatility dissapears and there will less business. I would say trim the voice broking side to a minimum once the volatility starts dissapearing. | highlands
09/12/2008 07:45 | Article about ICAP moving into film distribution: | jinxo777
08/12/2008 17:38 | Barnes Wallace - 8 Dec'08 - 16:37 - 885 of 885 Its funny you mention cinemas. I see ICAP are getting into film distribution, to make them less reliant on bond broking. ICAPbuster ? DID YOU MEAN BLOCKBUSTER ???????? OR EVEN GHOSTBUSTERS ??????? first ive heard of i-cap moving into film distribution would they distribute a movie of the wife trying to stop shopping and going cold turkey ? probably not . ANYWAY BACK TO PROPER MATTERS SMALL RISE TODAY ON I-CAP WHEN FINANCIAL STOCKS ROSE BIG TIME TODAY ALONG WITH THE FTSE 6% CLIMB ,RISE ON THIN VOLUME i expect a swift retreat very soon or im reading the market wrongly which is very possible . | dapper don
08/12/2008 16:37 | Its funny you mention cinemas. I see ICAP are getting into film distribution, to make them less reliant on bond broking. ICAPbuster ? | barnes wallace
08/12/2008 16:31 | Highlands It sure would be nice to see the more realistic £4 again but iam still awaiting the large crash i feel is a comming to a cinema near you soon. This rise is unfounded on both the dow and ftse on thin volume . If a big sell off occurs expect freefall then i will be buying more of my key stocks ,right now iam holding and waiting with my cash . ALL imho of course i expect ftse 3300 | dapper don
08/12/2008 16:10 | The trend looks like it is up now. it would be nice tgo see £4 again. | highlands
08/12/2008 09:41 | Well we bust through the £3 mark but can it hold on was 3.15 at one point . Is it a fools rally though ? | dapper don
04/12/2008 10:35 | seems timid to go above 300p. kept falling back. | werock
03/12/2008 16:02 | dap, there must be a good reason for icap's rise. Either a rumour or an upgrade maybe but we always find out last. | highlands
03/12/2008 12:19 | Icap seems to be bucking the trend market has been falling i-cap rising . Still a way to go untill im totally in the blue but its a good way to go . I am tho still awaiting a large market correction on the ftse to 3300-3500 imho as usual dyor anyone still alive here ????? | dapper don
28/11/2008 17:33 | For a sustained rally the price needs to go above the previous high around 3.70 . Looking at the chart each rebound is to a lower high with the downtrend going lower than the previous . I personally think a major market correction is due in December maybee the biggest yet to end the bear run . I am holding over 50k of i-cap mostly at a loss but waiting to buy on the next big dip . | dapper don
28/11/2008 17:28 | Looks like blackrock are trading in and out of i-cap again now over 5% holding . | dapper don |
