It is a fund of funds; i.e. HSBC investing in other hedge funds.HSBC European Absolute Limited ("HEAL") is a Guernsey domiciled closed-ended investment company whose main assets are holdings in leading hedge funds investing in the European markets. The company has a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange providing daily liquidity to investors through leading market makers such as HSBC. Although the structure of the company is closed-ended, HSBC Republic Investments Limited ("HRIL") uses innovative discount control mechanisms to protect investors against the potential for HEAL's share price to trade at a wide discount to net asset value. HEAL launched in April 2001. Assets are invested in a portfolio of hedge fund managers trading a diverse range of investment strategies focusing on the European markets. These hedge funds are selected and monitored by HRIL, who blend the holdings to provide a diversified portfolio. Shares in HEAL are available in Pounds Sterling with Depositary Receipts denominated in Euros. |
