12/3/2018 15:09 | Rhu. I spoke with this new CEO, BT, following his Medusa presentation in Mayfair about 18 months ago, after his appointment to the company 2 years ago. He seemed rock solid and by nature not given to cheap PR spouting to impress the gullible! He is vastly experienced and probably over qualified for this job if you read his resume below. I would say he's in his mid 50's and not thinking of retirement. He has taken on this company only after visiting the mine and doing his own due diligence 2 years ago. He has relevant experience of underground gold mines like Medusa's. All the work that has been carried out since his appointment is relevant for a long life low cost operation with much improved mine scheduling and mine development from an ongoing extensive underground drilling campaign. He seems determined to make a break with the past of over promising and under delivering (which destroyed sentiment) by being very cautious and understating future prospects. It was expected that the new shaft completion (now June 2018) would allow production of something like 140k oz/year at ASIC in the order of US$850-900. The mill is very new and currently has spare capacity. It can support production to this level and beyond. The latest on this subject seems to be that BT wants to produce at a lower rate (maybe 120k oz?) but to minimise the cost which may have increased from the estimates of 2 years ago. So we will have to see how it goes. Boyd Timler, Managing Director BSc Geology; UofA, GAICD Mr Timler was appointed to the CEO role with Medusa Mining Ltd. On March 21st 2016 and as Managing Director on 09th January 2017. Mr Timler is a geologist with 33 years of experience in the global mining industry, with a broad diversification in senior management, mining executive duties, technical assessments including; geology, exploration, engineering efficiencies, due diligence, project assessments and brownfield expansion projects. Mr Timler also has considerable global diversity working at operations and projects in; Canada, USA, Australia, Tanzania, Zambia, Brazil and PNG. Previously, Mr Timler was the Chief Operating Officer for Beadell Resource Ltd. Based in Perth 2014-15. Prior to this as the Managing Director for Lumwana Mining Company Ltd (subsidiary of Barrick Gold Corporation) based in Zambia (2012-13) and prior to this General Manager at 3 Barrick Gold mining operations in Africa and Australia (2005-12). | stevea171

12/3/2018 13:05 | By then you will be 103 years old | juju44
12/3/2018 11:58 | Many thanks stevea for a comprehensive write-up. Are you able to forecast a guide to production costs once the shaft work has been completed? but that might be a silly question. Also, on reading a post elsewhere it might appear that the CEO is a mature gent so do you know of other personnel, such as an FD, who is in line to the throne? My apologies for going off-thread but things are much quieter here these days. | rhuvaal2

11/3/2018 07:35 | Yea it can. Though buying gold is a long term store of buying power. Look how much gold hoards are worth when found. The value stays. But that might be helpful for the detectorist. Not the Roman who hid it. Right now cash is the best place for money to sit, awaiting an inevitable monumental collapse. Why be the last bull to the party? 10/3/2018 16:49 | Lies upon lies. That's what you get from governements and their allies. Hardly surprising. A collapse? Say the people at the top. Not on my watch. And so it rolls on. | dt1010

09/3/2018 10:45 | Rhu. If you are looking for investable ideas, I have intimate knowledge of this company over many years and a large investment here: Medusa Mining (MML)is a gold miner that was dual listed on both the ASX and it had a main market LSE listing as well, paying dividends. The LSE listing was cancelled a couple of years ago leaving just the ASX listing but many UK gold old timers know of this company and have been invested here in the past. It has gone through hard times, the share price has fallen to 30c but is now recovering. 52c today which is a 14 month high whilst many gold miners are at or near 14 month lows! Medusa still has significant institutional support in London and some UK based PI shareholders. They did their first presentation to the public for a couple of years just a couple of weeks ago in Mayfair (Proactive Investments series) which is a sign of them coming back. Mkt Cap only A$105 million for a 100-120+k oz per year established gold producer coming out of heavy capex to develop the mine with a new mill a few years ago. From July they will be in a position to lift production and reduce costs with the completion of a new shaft that has been holding progress back. All the capex has been done from own cash flow with virtually no debt and no cash raisings. New management 2 years ago, the CEO is a highly experienced Canadian who I have met and gained a favorable impression of, who has been addressing a back log of issues that are very near to complete. MML has a long life underground mine and at 52c is highly likely to multi bag from here. It was $8 before the troubles began more than 5 years ago. | stevea171
09/3/2018 09:47 | stevea, could you expand on your last sentence: particularly silver ~ many thanks | rhuvaal2
09/3/2018 09:30 | Topicel. The US knows from past experience it can never trust NK. And vice versa. Therefore any negotiations that may occur, both sides will likely be acting in bad faith. As you say NK is likely to be motivated to buy time and trying to get sanctions lifted or reduced. Para Olympics start today in SK. 9/3 to 18/3. NK is trying to avert a Spring preemptive attack by the US. Hence the sudden softening of relations with the South, participation in the Olympics etc. Gold and silver are being hammered into the ground ahead of a mega development coming in just a couple of weeks. This has been coming for years but has been postponed a few times. It seems this time it will happen on 26/3. Hugo Salinas Price. 8/3/2018. "China is, on cue, about to initiate on March 26, their famous Petro-Yuan deal (which they have postponed several times). The Petro-Yuan leads into the Petro-Yuan-Gold deal, where the oil exporters will be able to turn Yuan – which they don’t need – into gold." HOC and FRES are directly affected by the rock bottom sentiment for the PM's engendered by the Comex and LBMA unprecedented suppression of prices and the will it/won't it US market crash take 2. Valuation is also high for HOC with rising costs so traders are mainly involved trying to skim a few percent here and there. My focus has moved away from HOC for now as there are better opportunities I have switched to as well as cash. | stevea171
09/3/2018 08:40 | Stevea - do you think that NK is bluffing still to buy time with all this talk of meetings with Trump after the Olympic friendliness with the South? It seems 'risk on' either way and all the interest in gold from that worry point of view is being eroded, as far as the MSM is saying, anyhow! Step forward Russia again a the bogeyman? 07/3/2018 17:09 | Nasdaq went down with the rest in the February correction but is back to within only 2% of its high. Despite being the index with the most over valued tech companies the correction does not last and it's looking to go higher! Until there is blood in the street it seems the madness of US investors will continue. When the Nasdaq starts to drop, % wise, by more than the Dow and S&P you will know the penny is finally dropping across the pond .....
