16/11/2017 19:36 | Also no Capital Gains tax on Sovs & Brits. | eeza
16/11/2017 19:07 | Rhu. Thanks. Yes, very true about not having all PM investments in miners which are still only digital entries in the brokers system or a paper certificate. Very important to have some physical gold/silver as well held outside the MS banking system as you say. I started buying silver coins about 2011 and over a few years bought a lot more silver and gold coins. Ratio probably about 2:1 gold to silver even though silver coins will at some point likely appreciate more than the gold. But Sovereigns and Brits are more compact and more easily turned into cash. Bullionvault sounds like an interesting system. Good luck with that. | stevea171
16/11/2017 17:09 | stevea ~ your command of this bb keeps me interested and on-board, along with three others. You have a firm grip on HOC's handle: very many thanks and my sole comment is to have some gold and silver in physical because as n' when things change the pm physicals will rise on day one, whereas pm shares are likely to suffer, at least initially, even for a while. I can recommend bullionvault where one can self-trade: in London, Zurich and Singapore etc in their vaults (no vat on silver that way). Good luck to everyone :) edit: when peeps here have had enough, then it's time to buy | rhuvaal2
16/11/2017 15:53 | If you don't need the cash for the next 10 years, don't worry. You'll get it back by 2027....Probably...h HOC - specialists in death by a thousand cuts. Just popping out to get some HOC food. | dt1010

16/11/2017 13:32 | Glaxo has been over smashed | juju44
16/11/2017 12:49 | ODR - systemic means to do with the whole system, not just one part of it. That's the problem here. Precious metals are being held down to a ludicrously undervalued range so the miners are not going to flourish until the criminal spot fixers release their iron grip on pricing imho. juju - why Glaxo, why not Astrazeneca? | charles clore
16/11/2017 11:59 | You must have a really good job DT or a very understanding boss to be on here all day.Sorry dude, but Steve has a point - Either suck up the loss or just forget about it for 12-18 months. | richkid71
16/11/2017 11:44 | From LSE HOC Thread) 'From the Gary Savage over on Smart Money Tracker who has been quite accurate with his calls of late. Posted yesterday: Question: Gary; miners showed incredible resilience today 'Do you think we see the bottom?? Gary; I doubt it. I have no idea why anyone is even wasting time with the sector right now. It's just whipsawing everyone to pieces. Sentiment is still neutral. I want to see sentiment get bearish before I try to call a bottom. The most likely timing for gold to bottom and the dollar to top is still around the December FOMC meeting where the Fed will hike another 1/4 point. It's a two day meeting over December 12-13th | dt1010
16/11/2017 11:43 | Dumped some of these to take out a long bet on Glaxo. all this PM stuff is doing my head in . Its s all so corrupt. If this falls through the floor of the channel then I,m off completely | juju44

16/11/2017 10:52 | It is all about sentiment Charles. Its a sector wide issue like you allude. When the company's earnings thanks to a ramp up in production make it a value play then new money will buy in, as the market will recognise it as cheap against its peers. Fundamentally the company is performing exactly as it wants to be, hitting production targets. You are right that more institutions and funds are selling the market than buying it at the moment. They consider the market over bought as a whole. Ordinary punters are more crazy about stocks than ever. Which is the typical cycle. It is remarkable though that this was 330p when gold and silver were at similar levels. I refuse to take a large five figure loss here as I know its a cyclical sentiment led market and the company is a quality play. Patience, no matter how hard won, will be worth it in the end. When this starts moving up it will take no time to put on 100p in value. | dt1010
16/11/2017 10:35 | This has fallen more than a pound from 330p when gold and silver were at a similar level to today's so the share price is moving down regardless of the antics of PMs. This suggests to me that significant market players consider there is a systemic problem and are taking their money out. And it's not just HOC, it's happening to other miners as well. I think this will be worth buying at these prices or just holding for the recovery as long as the 220p support holds. | charles clore
16/11/2017 10:16 | Ha a septuple bottom indeed! Whoof!! Shall we all sell and buy Bitcoin instead? What will save this dog from falling through the channel? It would win a prize at crufts!!!! | dt1010
16/11/2017 10:05 | A septuple bottom coming up? | charles clore
16/11/2017 09:24 | HOC , look at silver , you silly cow | juju44
16/11/2017 09:20 | DT1010. >>>>> "No one is actually selling this who actually held the stock in the first place." Why do you say this? How do you know? You don't know and it's just not true. Why do you spend all day here making worthless comments like this that are just your opinions but presented as facts? This is a form of misrepresentation. Are you even aware of this? Or you just don't care? Is trying to sucker board members into buying stock in a falling market something you are proud of? Seriously your losses here don't justify all the lies. HOC is an excellent company with good prospects. It doesn't need your constant repetition of mercantile views that are always presented as facts when they are just your opinions and you're wrong 95% of the time. Then you have the gall to constantly diss professionals for analysis that is wrong through no fault of their own but due mainly to the PM manipulation. So hypocritical to go with all the rest. GS may be a big investor here along with others who has the good sense to withdraw from posting in uncertain markets. Full marks to him. btw. Do you recognise this post? DT1010 - 10 Mar 2015 - 12:50:14 - 34 of 76 where's the next one thats going up 500% then? that we can rape for profit and then dump, used like some filthy unwanted rag.. It seems raping and dumping are also to be proud of in your view. | stevea171
16/11/2017 09:11 | If we can't get up through 240 when the metals are going up what happens at 220 when the metals are falling . Maybe its not going to happen and could be time to cut the cord | juju44
16/11/2017 08:46 | Whatever the reason, it's a dog. | richkid71 |
