I dont expect HOC too fall much if at all .I just buy when indicators are on the floor and turning up . Thats now . It may drop a penny or two with Jackson effect , it may not . I'll ride that wave

Possibly, but it isn't sensible for him if sanctions are to begin biting in early September and China have told him to cool it. He, or his puppet masters, are in power because they do as they are told, and won't be keen to get bombed out of existence.

US shutdown is our PM hope now. The Washington debt ceiling dance will begin in earnest next week or after Labour Day and in the meantime we will be range bound beneath 1300 gold and 17 silver I suspect.

But if silly haircut wants to play rockets, let him do so!

Juju, the logic of buying when you have suggested Jackson Hole will have an impact (or not for long) is just as contrary as saying the smack downs are coming whatever we do and that they also don't last long.

I used to follow gaps on AHT and they did get regularly filled. I missed this 318p here - was it the morning of the 16th August? The trouble with gaps is they can take months to fill, and don't always either.

Which brings me back to shutdown as the catalyst as HOC needs one as the results have been taken out of context for now. Presumably you expect the gap will be filled sooner than months...? The overall chart for this year would support your theory.

I wouldn't be surprised if the boy with the mad haircut starts pushing the boundaries again and fires another rocket or two. Geopolitics is loaded with tension and it wouldn't take much to get the pot boiling again somewhere.

The gap at 318p will be filled at some time. I have invested to catch that

The NK fun is clearly under control from all accounts and it would take another launch to get the Yanks going again. Now we all move on to the critical economic issue of the debt ceiling.

Now Republican House Leader Ryan has said it isn't in the party's interests to see a shutdown...as if we didn't all know that. There will be plenty of soothing words but brinkmanship in this sphere is what PMs need to really get them moving through $1300.

And we are so close and the chances of an easy fix are so low that even the smack down merchants might struggle and will just let it go for a while...

Tech indicators tell me this bottomed so I buy . Timing is too hard to call exactly but I believe its in buying territory . The Jackson effect will soon wear off in any case

Why would you buy in yesterday if you think Jackson Hole jawboning is gonna be negative on PMs and their related investments Juju?

Not very logical mon ami...

expect a lot of lying weasel words coming out of Jackson hole later , carefully chosen to protect markets. Not much likely to happen before that . Unlikely to be helpful to PMs

Another breakthru attempt by PMs today on weak dollar? This will be the 4th attempt in the past 2 weeks to break over 1300 gold and 17.20 silver.

If the other metals keep climbing like they have then there needs to be some catch-up too as mentioned before I think. Has to be more positive than negative for Ag and Au.

Mmmm, did I hear good old Mr. Trump make mention of the 'S' word? Shutdown...in his speech last night.

Rambling as so often, covering many bases from Nk to Wall building, but also preparing the ground for a battle over debt ceiling and financing the massive near-20 trillion dollar debt (which we all know means interest rates can't rise much more because what they don't say is the repayments on the interest alone would become too onerous)..

Not like it isn't frittered money anyway at the moment (who cares, we'll just print more...oops, but then we won't be able to reduce the QE as planned!) but we are getting nicely set up for the full horror of the US dollar's inherent weakness to be put under the spotlight at long last.

The Treasury is using special accounting NOW to pay its obligations to pensions, veterans, Obamacare (another dirty word) and so on. Like last time will the Tea Party, Freedom Caucaus and other anti-Trump types in the Republican Party really make it easy to vote another debt ceiling rise through?

I dunno, the signs ain't good judging by all the other votes in Congress these last few months. And most of these GOP 'Rebels' are gold bugs, big time, and so, deep down, if you'll recall, is Trump and his election backers. Oh, and Pence too.

Time for a history lesson on the last time all this came to pass and little things like libraries, parks and, heaven forbid, the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument were closed to visitors as the money ran out...and gold went to $1950 and silver to $49.

I'll keep with the PMs and related investments through all of this fun and games I reckon...
