01/12/2010 13:34 | The NAV would appear to be a work of fiction. The auditors are looking silly. Isnt the main problem that the market is wondering how the SPVs will raise cash to complete these projects. I assume the SPVs can't just wait until they have collected cash from the 1st completed bit then build the next part etc. Otherwise the share price wouldnt be this low. Maybe no-one will put invest more in cash these companies because Hirco is due such a big dividend. | hugepants
01/12/2010 12:05 | because the % they have now is less than the % they had earlier. clearly someone has to be buying, but on balance the share price is going down, so one has to assume that they are better offered than bid. the company now almost sits at a staggering 90% discount discount to reported NAV. Either there is something seriously wrong (my belief), or it is cheap as chips. The opacity though of the off-balance sheet SPVs and the murky dealings of the management leave me on the side-lines. It would be a leap of faith for me to invest and i prefer to invest on facts. | adam

30/11/2010 09:41 | Indian economy continues to expand Against the backdrop of expanding yields across many euro zone countries, one could not be blamed for being jealous of the latest economic release from the Indian government. Gross domestic product rose 8.9% year-on-year in the three months to September. This was above consensus expectations of 8.2%. India's latest growth compares to 1.9% in the euro zone and 2.5% in the US. The government expects the economy to expand by 8.5% for the full fiscal year to March. The strong growth has led to increased inflation and this in turn has led the government to increase the reserve ratio in recent weeks. Forecasters expect further increases in the reserve ratio. The emergence of the Indian consumer is likely to be heralded as one of the potential drivers of long-term world growth. Sales of cars reached a record in October and offer further evidence that the Indian consumer is most definitely emerging. Loans provided by lenders rose 22% in the fortnight to November 5th, which is the fastest pace in nearly two years. | lbo

23/11/2010 10:03 | Land is scarce in Mumbai, but the city is still the dream destination for real estate investors. Hirco PLC, another of India's large real estate investment companies, is focussing on mixed-use township development in suburban areas outside city centres. These townships will be predominately residential and provide high-quality affordable housing for India's growing young and affluent working population. These self-contained townships will essentially feature schools, hospitals, parks, landscaped gardens, leisure facilities, hotels, and retail outlets including exclusive shops for domestic and international brands, supermarkets, restaurants, and cafés | lbo
