They have raised 1.05£ billion.and are worth 980£m.

Not sure how much they have left of the capital raise.

It is an interesting company and pays a divi.

It is just how much of a return they can expect in the assets and if these assets are getting more valuable.

Well it's going to appear sooner or later in the accounts!

If they gave that information you could work out the price they paid, or at least price relative to earnings. This would be too sensitive and jeopardise future negotiations for other catalogues so understand why they can't release this information.

Even accepting the point made by others that they may not wish to publicise the cost of each individual portfolio, I wish they'd give us some financial information to go on. As they've now announced 3 new acquisitions, they could surely give us some global figures indicating the amount, financing, ROC and impact on cash generation and profitability? It's beginning to feel like that South Sea Bubble company - “a company for carrying an undertaking of great advantage, but nobody to know what it is”!

Where is all the money coming from to fund these aquisitions?

They announced they were looking to raise more cash early Dec after some large deals .

Yet we have 3 purchases in the past 3 days.

Are we reinvesting free cashflow?

Merc's been busy but I guess there is a queue of artists who haven't made any money since March who are desperate to cash in.

If I was Merc, there is no way I would release pricing on a catalogue basis. If I did, I would just be setting the floor price for the next catalogue which the artist would then try to improve on.

They only have to declare if they pay more than 5% of their mkt cap

I thought SONG never quote pricing etc for individual catalogues. But they sometimes give aggregate figures in the half yearly reports if they've made a number of recent acquisitions. This is entirely understandable on privacy/commercial sensitivity grounds. Possibly the institutions are given greater insight?

Seems odd to put out a (long!) RNS including all the 'arty' stuff and not mention the price or income and impact on profits etc. These boys might know their music but I'm not sure if they understand how the stock market works!

Kerching!

Completing a journey 26 years in the making, Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas Is You has reached number one in the UK singles chart.

Taken from Carey's album 1994 Merry Christmas, the modern classic was originally held off the top spot by East 17's Stay Another Day.

However, it finally climbed to the summit this week, after being streamed 10.8 million times.

"Happy Christmas UK! We finally made it!" said Carey on hearing the news.

Good, he's not to everyone's taste. And good to see Nile Rogers complaining about artists streaming income.

Third parties have longer to exploit the assets than some artists. And wasn't, as always, Bowie well ahead of his time with Bowie Bonds? Back in... 1997.

EDIT: Bowie's son has also suggested on Twitter that perhaps Dylan was engaging in some savvy tax planning.
