22/4/2004 18:49 | Well I don't like WE BUILT THIS CITY, but boy!!! there are a few zillion worse hits than that one.....a "Worst Song Ever" thread would make the ADVFN site crash. Where would one begin?! Has anyone got the full list for us to mull over? Thanks. | samg99
22/4/2004 15:43 | Eighties hit is voted 'worst ever' Eighties hit We Built This City by the band Starship has been voted the worst song in rock history, according to a US magazine poll. The song, which was released in 1985, topped a list of the 50 worst songs in rock magazine Blender. The list included songs by New Kids on the Block, Meat Loaf, The Doors, Lionel Richie, MC Hammer and The Beach Boys. The magazine said Starship's song was "the truly horrible sound of a band taking the corporate dollar". I never thought it was that bad but they do have a point. It was the sound of ultra cool West coast rockers Jefferson Airplane selling out. | smoketrader
22/4/2004 12:49 | The Eton Boat-song summers days , the splash of water, blade on the feather- bliss, oh and the cry " one two three in, one two three out, in out", ah yes the shagging in the rushes lol | oldolie
21/4/2004 09:27 | Black Hey...oooh... Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay Were laid spread out before me as her body once did All five horizons revolved around her soul As the earth to the sun Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn Ooh, and all I taught her was everything Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds Of what was everything? Oh, the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything... I take a walk outside I'm surrounded by some kids at play I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning How quick the sun can, drop away And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything (note the lack of question mark) All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything... All the love gone bad turned my world to black Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll ever be...yeah... Uh huh...uh huh...ooh... I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky, but why Why, why can't it be, why can't it be mine | hooya

16/4/2004 10:47 | Just heard a classic on Radio 2: HOW LONG by Ace. Really soulful number, vocals by the incomparable Paul Carrack (more recently solo artist and with Mike and the Mechanics). Seem to remember it was a big hit in the States (?1974ish) but flopped in UK. | samg99

10/4/2004 23:30 | Doctor Dre - as "killed" by Eminem .... Just found "From the Underworld" by The Herd on the internet - still sounds as good as ever - Pete Frampton's voice is so distinctive - but eerily similar to Peter Gabriel - (best PG track - Family Snapshot). A few more to add to my best ever list ..... Piano Concerto in F by George Gershwin No Woman No Cry by Bob Marley and the Wailers Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple and finally .... Don't Eat That Yellow Snow by Frank Zappa - best advice you could get ....... Q | quidzinn
09/4/2004 23:55 | In my Life was on Radio 2 yesterday, as the greatest love song ever. Not deliberately so, Chris Rea said it was an astonishing "throw-away" love song. I like it a lot. | march
09/4/2004 23:20 | in my life...... In My Life There are places I'll remember All my life though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places have their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more In my life I love you more I have an album somewhere of famous people singing beatles tracks, now where is it, it is really rather good. I think it is a tribute to george martin.. dave | dave37

I dont know the title, goes something like thi: There are places I remember, all my life though some have changed' Some for ever, not for better, some have gone and some remain, All these places have their moments for lovers and friends, I still recall Some are dead and some are living, But in my life I loved them all.. I have a tear now! apologies for incorrect lyrics | pawsnjaws |
