I think "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugar Hill Gang in 1979 beat her to it/was her inspiration.

I always loved "Can blue men sing the whites?" Viv Stanshall - a true original!

Since we are talking about dogs & music...it has to be

"Hey Bulldog" by the Beatles

or "I'm the urban spaceman- "I've got speed"". By the infamous Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band (dedicated to that wonderful chap called Kong).

If you like Johnny Winter, you should try Mike Bloomfield, esp the Butterfield Blues Band stuff on Elektra.

Your post brought an image of Segovia playing blues on his trusty Gibson ES335. Like, WOW!

Ah, not bad. Poor quality though (better on Sky Digital than the Internet).

If anyone has AOL Broadband there's a great service Radio@AOL with some good channels. I like 'NME Radio', 'Awesome 80s' and the UK ones. Good tunes on there and in fantastic quality. The same channels and more are also available free to everyone as Radio@NetscapePlus although at lower quality.

zaxx can't actually see any conflict in what we each wrote about windows but hey it was only a two sentence summary!

Doc Cox... aka Ivor Biggun

No votes for Jon & Vangelis yet? Some top songs... I Hear You Now, Find My Way Home, State Of Independence, etc. Poodle rock I suppose!

I tend to rate songs more for the music than the lyrics. Well half the time can't tell what the heck they're singing anyway! :-)

Mrs N - LOL, i dont think there is a record anywhere that can match that one!. I know Chuck berry did "My ding a ling" but even that doesnt come close.

Sam - thanks, im lucking forward to it, i like to keep a wide range of different artists and keep my mind open. I notice you refer to the Harold Melvin original of "If you dont know me by now". Normally i would say you cant beat the original but in the case of Mick Hucknall i have to say he has a fantastic voice imo and covered it well. I also thought his recent cover in the charts currently is very nice. He is a very confident singer who is improving with age.
