So others do not have to read the unrealted parts of the article:

Kommersant: Major gold miner might break into Russia’s market

A new major gold mining player might appear on the Russian market and occupy second place behind the country’s frontrunner, Polyus Gold. A potential merger between Zoloto Kamchatki and Petropavlovsk might be the initial step in this direction, Kommersant wrote citing sources.

According to the newspaper, Viktor Vekselberg’s Renova group intends to gain control of the gold mining company Petropavlovsk, since it is already its largest shareholder (22.35% of shares). If the group wins at Petropavlovsk’s annual general shareholders meeting on June 20, Petropavlovsk (part of Renova) merging with Zoloto Kamchatki might be the next logical step.

According to Kommersant, preliminary negotiations on the subsequent merger of the consolidated company with Highland Gold (whose major shareholder is Roman Abramovich) or Vysochaishy (GV Gold) could be held later.

According to Kommersant, in the case of a merger with Highland Gold, the amalgamated company with a production volume of about 25 tonnes would be able to take second place, but should it merge with Vysochaishy instead of Highland Gold, it would be fourth with 18.4 tonnes.

shake - In the first quarter, including foreign exchange gains, one-off items and other financial instruments, the Polyus profit jumped 70 percent to $499 million while revenue climbed 19 percent to $609 million.

Polyus said its net debt fell to $3.13 billion at the end of March from $3.24 billion at the end of 2016.

The company's main greenfield project is the large Natalka gold deposit in the east of Russia, which it plans to launch by the end of 2017. It also acquired the giant and largely untapped Sukhoi Log gold deposit in Russia earlier this year.

The company said its capital expenditure was up by a third to $128 million in the first quarter, mainly driven by the ongoing work at the Natalka gold deposit.

Just for Info:

Russia's largest gold miner Polyus Gold has announced its return to the London Stock Exchange after delisting in 2015 amid sanctions imposed by the West over Russia's annexation of Crimea.

Polyus, which aims to move from its position as the 8th largest gold producer in the world to being the 4th largest gold by 2019, on Monday announced an offering of 7% of its shares in London and Moscow in June.

Currently, the free float in the capital of the company amounts to 6.76%, with the majority of the rest of the shares owned by oligarch Suleiman Kerimov.

Fosun to buy 10 pct stake in Polyus by the end of 2017. Gets an option for additional 5 pct in Polyus. The deal provides for Polyus' minimum divs for 2017-2020. The company plans to use the proceeds from the deal to repay some of its debt and to finance its operating activities and development projects.

The price for the initial stake purchase values Polyus at $9.0 billion and the deal is expected to be done by the end of 2017.

The agreement also provides for minimum annual dividend payments by Polyus for 2017-2021 at the greater of 30 percent of its full-year core earnings, known as EBITDA, or $550 million for each of 2017, 2018 and 2019 and $650 million for each of 2020 and 2021.

Having delivered a 19% increase in gold production since 2013 to 1,968,000 ounces in 2016, Polyus anticipates a further 44% increase in production to 2.8mln ounces by 2019.

Divi would need to be 15.4p for a 10% yield.

Gold up $12 on Friday and a further $2.5 today, but share price is only 1.5p above Friday open.

I don't agree with you RE interest rates rises. It's taken interest rates rises to significantly move the gold price in the past. All the big sustained jumps we've seen have occurred shortly after interest rate rises (bar the jump sparked by Brexit). Stalling on the interest rate rises hasn't really helped gold at all, if anything it makes it go down!

Put it this way...

Gold is about to lift off...if the Fed raises Gold will go crazy....if they don't, then obviously it will go even more crazy....

This is so cheap.

PE of just 10

Yield of 10%

Should be a lot closer to 200p

It won't be made illegal srp, ever..

This needs to break out if gold continues on up or something is really wrong somewhere. It is certainly being manipulated. Capped - by a seller.

Maybe we'll find out soon enough.

Remember though, where there's a seller, without the price going down, there is a buyer. So maybe a load of shares are changing hands between funds.

Well it is about time is was made illegal then.

Kicking companies when they are down making it worse, possibly
causing unemployment, just wrong.
