Morning SR- I concur and hope- a few hours ago it looked bleak, Asia ~4% overall following Dow, S&P, but futures on FTSE looking better (and Dow later), could open flat, it changes minute by minute. On gold, normal daily movements, would like to see upturn on opening. Markets came back, then dipped again, let's hope today. US yields need to come down- next couple of weeks are key, the risk of a FED rate hike in March is dropping slightly from certain. Stocks can rally, but it is a Friday, and we need to know when bottom has been reached.

Gold bouncing nicely of 50dma, (Kitco) after an
initial move down on the ftse of about 50pts, I
think the markets will move higher into the
US open as the futures are positive, we shall

Bit worried about the ftse tomorrow from the US cold but since before Carney speech and subsequent info from normal indicators have driven prices in gold stocks- of course there,s been no bad news one offs for any either for once. Hope we can get this gold up, it’s sooo complex it could go either way but my view is higher and not lower from here, we will see. I do not expect a huge surge though- but am not confident enough to do an x50 shirt leverage on it! Got enough in gold/gold stocks as it is

On kitco, they state GS reckons gold will be $1450 by next year,
good heavens, imagine the profits and dividend here if that happens,

SR- speech and q&a now finished from
Carney- big gain on gbp to dollar and fold up from 1307 from before speech to 1314 now- good speech imho but all take from it what you will- worth a listen though if u get time. Of course it could be argued gold price had nothing to do here but not gbp gain on dollar which is clear.

Funny you mention about looking at certain moves, I have just looked back
to when we last made a golden cross on the charts back in
October 2015 approx, four weeks later we went back through the
200dma, then bounced past the highs of the time, we made the
first golden cross since then at the start of Jan 2018, and four weeks
later the same has happened again, we shall see what happens next,

Agree SR, when if ur stock loaded it’s brave to switch to fund- i swapped out 20 percent of my rrs at 6590 taking a big hit and added elsewhere wish i’d done the lot now at that price. I would have though dollar weaken should come but need it now sooner rather than later so when we get the april results gold is well on its way way up - results from
lots of companies bar gsk which were well low anyway don’t seem to have had the expected impact due to the current climate

Good post, as I have said earlier, it is very difficult
buying at the time we all know we should be buying.
If hgm was 180p and looking nice, investors would feel
more at ease to buy then rather than now at 139p, such
a psychological game and the mm's know it, dyor.

Alas it's hold onto our hats time- all golds suffering, even Rio who had ace results back down, and of course RRS(who's results were ace, but hammered also by Congo). For those who like stats, something I cobbled together over the past 2 hour window so prices have fluctuated a tad- I would have cut and paste but can't seem to paste graphics here. A positive article in tough times, interesting the article was written on 29th Jan and he warns on near-term. A very good read.
