Yes, I agree, best to be comfortable with your level of exposure. Best of luck to you anyway.

Well done those adding, but as a proportion of my income portfolio HFEl, was too heavy hence the reduction.

Everyone has to view their own risk/Strategy.

I’m not complaining, allowed me to rebalance my overall ISA portfolio.

Good luck all holders

And why not? A very sensible thing to do.

Had these in both my SIPP and Isa since 2015 at an average of 250. Can’t imagine why I’d want to sell them. Great for income.

Nor have I - more inclined to add at these levels and with this quarterly yield.

Took the opportunity to reduce my holdings (by 45%), as I’m in profit and had averaged down previously. Re balanced into other funds. Means my income dropped, but happier/comfortable with what I have left here.

Stuff
I don't follow direct line , but I thought in their last results they put something out about customers migrating away ?
There will be a whole load of areas that cancel dividends completely. Construction/ housing will be one I think ?

dlq is the reason I only hold tiny amounts of individual you never know whats round the corner.

Of course there are still risks with investments like this but at least your money is spread across many companies.

Certainly not the well named Motley Fool. It was touting DLG as a buy weekend

Re "someone was saying that basically the yields of the company's held came to quite a bit less than the amount these pay."

HFEL generates revenue, distributed as dividends to shareholders, from a combination of dividends received from stock the trust owns and income from derivatives. The vast majority comes company dividends, but the derivatives generate the extra income.

So, if you tot up all the dividends HFEL receive, it might be less than what's paid out to shareholders, but the total revenue ( divis + derivatives ) means the dividend paid to shareholders is almost always fully covered.
