Agreed! Mostly under the radar but now Kepler has this as one of their trusts to watch in 2021. Discount is still very generous IMHO.

Spectacular performance from this trust over the past few weeks. I still think it has potential as the discount narrows to reflect the sector leading performance over 1,5 and 10 years. Not as concentrated as the Artemis Alpha, which has a similar perfromance and discount.

Now we are into Jan, HOT is showing s the top performer in its sector over 1 year and third over 5 years. That should attract some value hunters who want exposure to smaller UK cos.

Thread title should be changed to past tense ?

Has now moved to the 2nd best performer in its sector over 1 year (for the short termists!) above Baillie Gifford UK Growth. HOT discount is 12.7% compared to BGUK's 3% premium. 1,5 and 10 yr record now looking respectable and a number of shares in its portfolio seem to have momentum. The key remains getting the market cap well clear of £100m - now £94.4m, but I can see this coming which could see a further reduction in the discount.

Strong rise in last few weeks along with small caps. Key though is that the discount has now come in substantially to under 12%. In 2019 also a strong year end rally in the NAV and SP, so I'm betting that this will continue. Next stop likely to resistance at just over 1100

Has anyone else noticed that HOT is performing rather well. The discount is still very generous. It's hard to pigeonhole but offers a good yield and some exciting growth companies (and compounded). Unconstrained stock selection across FTSE All Share and AIM with a bias to smaller cap. Plenty to go in terms of share price growth for long term investors (ignoring the spread).

HOT is looking well-placed for a post-Brexit recovery. Some nice holdings and looks undervalued. Already over 50% up since March and good divi as well. A trust that is too small (c£65m market cap) for the mainstream but great for retail investors who are willing to buy and hold. Do you agree?

Now showing as the 3rd best performing IT in the AIC UK All Companies sector total return over 1 year. Still not good over 3,5 & 7 years mind.

Agreed, not necessarily obvious what hole HOT fills. c.£90m of assets but c.£65m mkt cap (vs eg £762m/£562m for HSL, at half the annual charge).

Furthermore, this trust is too small according to some views about ITs in general. I'd be in favour of a merger with another Henderson trust - e.g. absorb into Lowland, merge with Henderson Smaller Companies trust, or even combine with TR European trust which has a pan-europe mandate.

Can get inside it/occasionally narrows but agreed - and even worse if things get choppy.

I've begun to feel unimpressed. Mixed bag portfolio, fuzzy-sounding investment objective, poor 5 year performance, and thus a seemingly never-ending circa 20% discount.

Wishing I'd taken my own hint last May and dropped HOT when I said KWS looked expensive. Look how it wavered then dropped off a cliff in Q4 2018.
Any views on growth-at-all-costs Blue Prism with no profits in sight ?
