I hope Ian Walters (and son) enjoy eating Haydale's Graphene dust.

Its very kind of Ian Walters and Co to pay all those patent fees, just to let Haydale and other competitors know all the details of the Perpetuus graphene process so they can copy it and improve on it.

I've just had another look at the IPO site and conducted another search on Perpetuus. It seems they have now added another filing since my last search (see table and link below), the new addition is another re-file (previously filed as GB1405614.7)

I have to own up to an error in my last post, it seems that Perpetuus did not abandon and re-file GB1319951.8 (1st application in the table below), they just refilled it as GB1420103.2 (6th application in the table below) and maintained the original priority date. This is allowable but it can create additional problems for the applicant, not least is that the original application will still publish rather than being allowed to remain hidden for eternity. The other main problem they will now encounter, is all the timelines for actions have now been compressed.

I will now renew my vigilance at the IPO web site to check when the application appears, it should be imminent.

Hopefully when it does publish it should appear with a preliminary search report which will help ascertain whether the patent will progress to grant.

I've just noticed the Perpetuus UK priority application GB1319951.8 due to publish around May 12th was abandoned and refilled on November 12th 2014 as GB1420103.2, so that will now publish May next year. The reason for doing this is normally because the inventor had an idea but hasn't been able to generate any data to support it in the following 12 months, but he still thinks its a good idea so he's filed it again (but he's lost his November 2013 priority date).

To adapt a well known business idiom: Filing patents is vanity, progressing them (beyond 12 months) is sanity. Getting them granted is reality.

Filing UK patent applications costs peanuts. Progressing them beyond 12 months (i.e. foreign filing) is when it begins to cost.

This now means that the first Perpetuus patent application due to publish will be the second one in the table above (GB1322764.0) and that should appear around the end of June.

The first of the Perpetuus patent applications is due to publish this month (18 months after filing).

The application should be available from around May 13th on various web sites, for example Espace (run by the European Patent Office),

Meanwhile I see that Perpetuus have been keeping busy with another UK priority application filed in February 2015 (which should publish in August 2016). They seem to be building quite a collection, see link and details below:

Just checked the trains: my best option would be to catch the 08:11 from Reading which gets into Port Talbot Parkway at 10:22, but the drive to Reading would be a pain and then the return ticket costs £99, so I think driving (all the way) is a better alternative.

It's not that bad, Timbo. I drove from Bedfordshire last year but I do know that a coach was laid on to meet the Swansea Flyer from Paddington at Port Talbot and I am sure that it will be the same format this year. I think that it was either the 7.45am 0r 8.45am train and the train back arrived Paddington about 6.30pm. It was worth the visit just to get a feel of the enthusiasm emanating from 'coalface'.

I looked in to going last year but bottled out. The problem is that their HQ is almost impossible to get there and back in a day (from Surrey).

Perpetuus Advanced Materials, a UK company involved in graphene production, has signed a preliminary agreement with Japan’s Graphene Platform Corporation to export its reactor technology to produce commercial quantities of the “wonder” material for a range of industrial uses.
Perpetuus, which has a production facility at Ammanford in South Wales, already has industrial collaborations exploring the uses of graphene.

Is there a connection between Perpetuus and Haydale which makes it graphene at Ammanford.
Perpetuus is one year old with an acc's address in central London.

In December 2014, Haydale received two new Rotovac HD60 plasma reactors. These reactors are now both fully operational and provide Haydale with increased processing capability and operational flexibility in functionalising graphenes and other nanomaterials.
The company has also ordered a further three Rotovac HD60 units for delivery by the end of June 2015, of which two will be shipped to overseas locations as part of a move to support worldwide demand for Haydale functionalised graphene materials.
Haydale has now taken delivery of an additional, significantly larger reactor, the HD200, to fulfil anticipated increased customer orders following successful sampling and supply from the smaller units. This unit has now passed its factory acceptance test and has arrived four weeks earlier than expected.
