I'm long these and not upset but.....that statement is all about activity and nothing about costs or profitability - which have been the problems recently

Well, last time I looked shorters were down to circa 5% from 6%.
5% of 473m shares is 23m.
Gonna be hard to close that if they have to.

Very strong rise into the close - 4% up today, plus decent rises at the end of last week. I wonder what the market is expecting tomorrow? - Personally I wasn't expecting much, and am worried growth in net new business will be slower than AJB's recent figures - will be very interesting to see. Perhaps there'll be an announcement about dealing fees?

Wonder if the recent uptick into the current update tomorrow are shorts closing in case of a good set of results.Reached 840 last time before collapsing back to low 700s...Thought things might be better for HL now Woodford has effectively been resolved and they got away with minimal/no sanctions.

HL making good margin on interest rates & has much lower costs than Banks, not recognised by market. When interest rates falls clients will move to funds win win. Looks cheap on DY, 1.5m clients & cash on balance sheet.

Sorry but I think Hargreaves has been overvalued for a long time. It used to pay a lousy 2% dividend. Now it seems fairly priced with a dividend in line with current BoE rates.
There is limited space for an upside.

Heavy duty market correction through summer as reality dawns rates are much higher for much longer ( love it I’m in U.S. T bills, 5.40 pc on 3 month money ) I think if you want to be in HL you will have the chance to get in sub 6 quid, all the U.K. asset managers are getting wrecked and it’s been going on for a long time now, SJP was the last one holding up and that has now been destroyed ( expect a capital raise there ) Schroders are seeing heavy outflows, abrdn not worth taking about, a j bell soso and HL perma tarred with Woodbridge fiasco, known for high fees and awful fund performance.

W rumbles on, with the FCA turning their attention to W:





Last Thursday the FCA accused Woodford and his firm Woodford Investment Management (WIM) of a string of failings that led to the collapse of his £10 billion investment empire. The regulator sent a warning notice in February to Woodford and WIM, which said they had failed to maintain an appropriate liquidity profile for the flagship fund and made “unreasonable and inappropriate investment decisions”.


However they are not looking at anyone else:

The FCA also confirmed that it was not investigating any other parties in relation to the fund’s failing, which suggests it will not pursue the investment platform Hargreaves Lansdown over its role in promoting the fund to retail investors like the Duffields.


Time for the AC to put up or shut up……

Managed to hold support at 7.40, looks good for a rise 2024. Cheap compared to Charles Schwab USA & big beneficiary of AI on database 1.5m clients to cross sell. No debts net cash model, low fixed costs hope special dividends back soon.

Had bought way back Ochs not as well as you 695 I think but sold out for a tiny profit as with the markets so unsure and nervous and with the news of inflation last night squared up.

I perceive very little dealing going on
Tracker funds rule at mom

Better ages will need to be applied to generate new business

So happy to have made a small profit but staying out for now
