Euroclear includes all shorts -insti, private, hedged spreads though it *also* includes all stock on loan. Stock can be out on loan for a few different reasons, not just for shorts.

So while Euroclear is not the total short absolute (which is data impossible to gather imo) it does give insight into trend. I consider (though cannot prove) that short positions make the very decent majority of the monthly average -shorts are the no.1 reason for stock to go out on loan imo.

Euroclear and shorttracker (running from the daily insti shorts spreddie) are the only tools I know of to monitor.

you can't unwind that level of short positions overnight......without affecting the share price signifcantly.

The latest Euroclear data has been released.

STOCK ON LOAN -monthly averages
DEC16 77.4m (16%)
NOV16 58.9m (12%)
OCT16 33.1m (6%)

...a very decent amount of covering to come so far as we can see, dependent on pain thresholds.

yep, it's amazing that as the £ get's devalued into oblivion, it's great for our exports and particularly the FTSE100....although makes it expensive to holiday abroad....

Interesting to think the more the £ goes down against the $ the more PMO should be worth as about 50% of its costs are in £s and its income is 100% is $s.
If Mrs May keeps on about Brexit we could hit nera to parity this year when PMO have rising income in $s as part of the rise in POO.

I'm in PVR, i worked out the cost per barrel was in the pennies when the share price was 9.5p so i literally bought thousands of barrels albeit 3 miles deep but longer term you never know. Just a small bottom drawer idea but in hindsight I should have gone bigger with no debt etc. I know the company's record from the days of Atlantic Resources. There's no guarantee of that oil coming up.

I just exited my position here, mainly because I've done very well and don't want to be in the game. Hoping to see it fly for the benefit of those that put their brass in when it was under pressure. Best of luck!
