12/12/2016 10:51 | "The impending Aramco IPO could be a reasonable explanation for Saudi’s eagerness in securing a mid-term recovery in oil prices. The value of Aramco will of course increase if Saudi Arabia manages to generate a sustainable momentum to help oil prices higher." | donald trumpton

12/12/2016 07:41 | mpclag.. It's not as simple as that... If too many producers sell too much forward oil it will flip the market from its current contango into backwardation (there are some signs that this is already happening). IF (and it's a big IF) the (N)OPEC agreements do hold then I'd expect to see the OP increase a significant amount more than here, and I'd be somewhat aggrieved if we'd sold oil forward at $58 whilst the front month was selling at $65. It's much more important (as producers) to be hedged in a falling market than a rising one. Currently I'd be expecting the airlines to be the most active with their hedging activities. That said, I agree that it would make sense for SOME of our oil to be hedged. I would expect the FDs are striking the right balance. | steve73
12/12/2016 07:37 | I'd be surprised if haven't hedged at least 25% of 2017 be end of week. | hearts1
12/12/2016 07:22 | can now lock in and hedge for whole of 2017 at $58. Hope the finance directors are busy! | mpclag |
