Discussing buys and sells as driving the share price seems an over-simplification to me since clearly the share price will also drive trading. Buys and sells have to even out in the end!

It does make you wonder why we bother to support this stock. I keep saying to myself if this continues past the 17th may get rid, but with the OPEC meeting now 25th may it's a case of wait a bit longer

Well another day of declining oil prices just gives the algos another reason to keep selling

Of course the reverse is never true :(

Usual stuff - sells having massively more impact than any buys.

Another poor,poor day for PMO

Am I Mikey admin? getting confused now :)

It seems its the yanks that are especially bearish on oil/silver and gold, as the price dips on a daily basis as soon as they get to their desks.

Now is a bit like purdah in the UK elections. Until refinancing completed nothing much will happen

Mikey admin. That was the point that I was making, re spread first thing As for the share price beg, yes I don't disagree shorters have this by short and curlies for now... But how close to opec do people think they will go before closing? And in drawing season too.The real rerate commences when the institutional holders buy. They will not do so until refinancing legally binding.

Without even looking I can bet more buys off book than on it via SETs.... and there will be some minuscule volume sells on SETs that will of resulted In a so step down...

Certainly need to shift the perception that PMO is only being run for the benefit of debtholders

Last few months, they are the only ones to have got what they wanted.

C'mon TD - at the last broker meeting, you got angry at the comment that PMO was only being run for the benefit of creditors. About time you proved otherwise

I can only speak for myself. I 'wanted' to buy PMO (again) around here, though waves of fresh shorts, and the company on the ropes within recent history...

I learnt the hard way some years ago that when multiple shorts roll in; it's a very brave man that goes against them. Even if segregated away from AIM shenanigans, that doesn't seem to matter any more on the broader markets.

It is also a war of attrition that the sellers are winning.

Anyone keen to buy is dissuaded by the knowledge that those algos will come on at about quarter past and walk the share price down. Happens to routinely that any buyers would be wiser to hold off until the share price is taken down and then this becomes self-fulfilling.

I do think its a bit pointless to moan about opening spreads in a stock like PMO...always takes about 15-20 mins to achieve a meaningful spread

(at which point the algos get switched on lol)

Looks like much of the shorting last week was done by GLG Partners who have added over a million shares to their position since last declaration.

Total > .5% shorts back to 7%

Hard to see what at the moment, will give buyers the impetus to take on the shorters. Hopefully a good trading update will help

Leo - nonsense

The opening spread is dictated by the orders sat on the book. In the absence of any orders on the book the MM's takes up those positions.

Your PMO defence/support/optimism at all costs approach is wearing a bit thin.

Yes, you can now add to the list of things that are unable to stop the PMO share price falling - major oilers coming in with good results - BP

POO going up doesn't stop the rot
RNS about lock in doesn't stop the rot
Significantly more buying than selling doesn't stop the rot

A complete punt stock that is completely in the hands of the shorters

Baked beans and others such as mikey adminOpening spread is large due to lack of liquidity. With tiny liquidity you get a big spread. It has nothing to do with mms
