31/7/2019 15:06 | Normal service will be resumed shortly with these on sterling recovering from its brexit induced crash as everyone realises that dope Boris will never be able to push through a suicidal hard brexit, looking to get back into these at sub 15.40, before year end that will happen, nothing really has changed much for Glaxo, cash conversion poor and trading on very high multiple now. Fall could be swift. | porsche1945
31/7/2019 14:18 | TM , excellent 👍 And there I was worrying whether to top slice my 850 shares 😊 | philanderer
30/7/2019 16:17 | I think the issue is how quickly the price has moved from below 1600p to the mid 1700s. Sure the results were very good and the exchange rate is very favourable. But is this enough to sustain the price for now? I have a note that on 05 Aug 2013 they were trading at 1723p (its taken a long time to regain these prices, and then in the event very quickly!). Sure there's 'corporate activity' ahead, but that is no longer news. A buy below 1650p would be O.K for me with a view to trading. I would consider that as well in order to capture the dividend. I tend to observe the trend rather than work to targets when trading. Good luck ....;0) | tradermichael
30/7/2019 15:31 | Well done TM . If you do not mind me asking what price would you consider for re-entry should the share price drop . With such a reasonable dividend , better than bank savings accounts , I was considering buying some more.I have held these for quite a long time and the total dividends have reached one third of my initial capital which is up 9% .I always take the divis out towards my income. | cyfalafwr
30/7/2019 10:03 | Yes well done TM....I havnt traded this share...happy to sit on it as an income play and watch the various posts...but can't argue with taking some profit at this level | badtime
30/7/2019 09:33 | Thanks guys. Meanwhile: £1 = US$1.22 | tradermichael
30/7/2019 08:23 | Well done TM you can sleep again now ;) | tim 3
30/7/2019 08:17 | Well played Michael, must feel good. | bluemango
30/7/2019 08:15 | My program sale went through yesterday at 1734.6, and that was the last egg in my basket. I have now safely hatched my collection of GSK eggs and am entirely liquid (~£700K). It doesn't look like there will be a drop for re-entry unless there is a drama in the market/economy, but you never know. I have earned well and I shall miss the dividends ……..good luck all holders! | tradermichael
30/7/2019 04:52 | and that... the sector is very hot with M&A including speculation (as per FT) that the pharma half of GSK would be an attractive target and may not be around for long. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
30/7/2019 00:25 | The recovery of GSK is three fold; Weak UK/US Pairing. No deal Brexit inevitable compounding UK/US Pairing, possible sub 1.20. Overseas money starting to flow back into UK Plc and continuing once UK/US trade negotiations announced, maybe pRe 31st Oct. Currently GSK has good news flow and share price momentum, share price to test 17.50 short term. | beckers2008
29/7/2019 22:37 | This may be breaking out of a long term box. The sector appears to be strong with azn doing even better so now is not the time to be completely out of gsk. Adding to that is the hedging in case of a brexit disaster. | riskvsreward
29/7/2019 22:29 | On 10th June Golden Cross 20wma/50wma both weightings rising | ianood
29/7/2019 19:49 | I have done well in the past buying at the lower part of the range and selling at the high but the problem is if you are a longer term investor rather than a trader you miss the biggest gains when it breaks out.Am sitting tight here. | tim 3
29/7/2019 18:53 | On balance, I am inclined to agree with your sentiments Ivor Hunch and hopefully shareholders will be rewarded accordingly... | lovewinshatelosses
29/7/2019 18:03 | I would have thought that it would make sense to hang on at least until the nature of the new company, the consumer product venture with Pfizer, became clear. I imagine that existing GSK shareholders will receive Newco shares for free and they could do well. I hold BHP and have seen my South 32 shares, which I got for free, do very well. Too soon to sell would be my view | ivor hunch
29/7/2019 17:49 | May have to top slice a few. GSK my largest holding and now over 5% of the portfolio. Decisions decisions .. ;-) | philanderer
29/7/2019 16:54 | The dividends are what make the decision to check out so difficult with GSK I find and they certainly helped take the edge off when the stock was, relatively speaking, in the doldrums late 2017 (I first bought some during the highs of 2016). Now it is on a bit of a roll and is also one of the few large cap stocks I currently hold that is in positive territory at the moment! I share the concerns of some others about whether the planned changes to the business might prove difficult and therefore potentially messy in the medium term. I probably will kick myself for ignoring the mantra of 'being fearful when others are greedy' etc, but at this stage, I am leaning towards holding tight, if not actually adding more stock at this stage, especially with the hedge affect as I think stirling has further to fall - all IMO of course - but good luck to you and all the others who banked some nice profits today. | lovewinshatelosses
29/7/2019 16:17 | I chickened out at 1730. First time I have been out of GSK for ages. What am I going to do without those lovely quarterly dividends??? | thamestrader
29/7/2019 15:30 | I have been following this thread for a little while now and I have been impressed with your posts and accuracy of your calls in particular TraderMichael; I was planning on continuing to hold my GSK stock, Warren Buffett style, but now I am wondering if I should bank those profits instead! :) | lovewinshatelosses
29/7/2019 15:22 | VZ has risen from $46 to $57 (23%) and the currency gain for sterling based investors has added almost 37% since the distributions were made in February 2014. | patientcapital
29/7/2019 15:00 | Well, in the 5 years since VOD sold its stake in Verizon to VZ, the VZ price has only increased by about 10%, and the VOD price has crashed by nearly 50% …… ;0) | tradermichael
29/7/2019 14:44 | The key to VOD was retaining VZ shares which have kept the overall holding in profit while collecting dividends from both. I can’t see any compelling reason to sell Glaxo which offers safe haven appeal, currency protection and a dividend. Add to this the forthcoming corporate activity which may or may not result in predatory attention. | patientcapital
29/7/2019 14:44 | Yes, £1 = US$1.23 good for GSK …. ;0) | tradermichael
29/7/2019 14:43 | Well done! GSK's results were excellent, but there appears to be little new news to stimulate the price. It has risen too quickly, I think. I have a program sell at 1734.50, good for today (10737 shares)….. ;0) | tradermichael |
