Not so much AIDS, more like Malaria?

CtR - I agree. Big Pharma will not put millions in at the beginning because of the lack of paying customers (again like AIDS) but if the disease spreads...…230;...another story.

CtR - reminds me of the initial studies into AIDS; a disbelief that it would spread.
(a good spot - as you say need to keep tabs).

In the Congo, hospitals and their medical staff are undergoing violent attacks by the armed militia. Each time there is an attack on a health facility or medical personnel, the response to the epidemic is put on hold and they lose precious time to stop the virus from spreading further.

Worth keeping tabs on...

Ebola, and spread of it throughout Africa(and Globally)

Totally unstoppable event now going global. They have no cure

Fresh cases being found with NO OBVIOUS CONNECTION to previous patients.
ie They do not know where it started!!!!!!

Cases will increase with potential regional and global transmission

"We have a good vaccine but it not controlling the epidemic"

"If this gets into a mboile population, we are in trouble"

Must be because of this good news jade :)

”Shingrix conditionally OK'd in China”

China's National Medical Products Administration has conditionally approved GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK +1.1%) shingles vaccine Shingrix, allowing it to file for approval there based on data generated in other countries.
Last quarter, it generated £357 million ($452 million) in sales, 43% above expectations and up more than 60% sequentially.

Early today both AZN and GSK WERE UP 1.5%. Now at midday AZN is still up 1.5% but GSK is up only about0.3%. However, this is better than many others in the market.

Will it ever get back to those heady days at the turn of the century? Gosh, can it really be nearly 20 years ago and lower now than then?

Had a quick look at iweb, seems excellent. Almost wondering ‘what’s the catch?’
I have an account with Halifax (£11.50/trade) so i’m wondering what services they cancel to make iweb so cheap.

Have any of you guys used X-O(by Jarvis) or iweb-sharedealing(by Halifax).

ii are upping fees again, ive decided its time I finally left them.(not to mention all the bugs from the rubbish website "upgrade")

x-o and iweb advertise a simple flat trade-only fee of £5.95 per trade and have no inactivity or monthly/yearly admin charges...

I am a Long Term Holder so having zero fees other than the trade is ideal for me.

If you can recommend any others let me know

And some impact from this:

Thermo Fisher Scientific has agreed to buy a manufacturing site in Cork from GlaxoSmithKline for €90m in a deal which will see the company's 400 employees transfer to its new owners.

I should think there's a lot of naysayers who aren't interested in a dividend, expecting the price to drop by 19p today. Its not always a God-given, though ….. ;0)

There must be two Monties on this site. One bangs on about great dividends coming through the letterbox every 3 months and loves it. The other about the lack of growth over 20 years so a waste of time.
