Why now? Don't understand why you would when there is a reasonable chance of an improved offer coming in and the stock is only up 3-4% on that of Friday.

It will be right up until when it happens.

Here is what Med is doing. A Buffett style arbitrage.

Buying GSK as an eventual ownership to NewCo. NewCo (IMO) will eventually run a higher PE than GSK pharma. Sell GSK pharma shares towards cost in NewCo.

I think natural PE of GSK pharma is lower than that of NewCo.

Do we know any details on how long you have to be a shareholder to get shares in the new company when it splits?

So you currently hold 3/4m quid in GSK? Jeez, what's your total portfolio value? In any sensible asset allocation, I'd expect £15m?

Sometimes we should take a Warren Buffett approach.

Cash as inflation get traction is trash in the long term.
Best get rid of the stuff and buy something with long term wealth creating value.
Take a long term view.

If I had had the nerve when I was first married to raise lots of debt and buy up as much property as I could afford.
It would have been the right thing to do.

Don't get hung up on cash, not at this time I history.

Gary, Yes, I think you're right and that's why I'm happy to retain 90% of my GSK holding (still a couple of good dividends to come!). However, what I sold was my 'trading' stock, so I have £88K for reinvestment if it dips short term.... o;)

You think a pharma company would accept billions of shares in a toothpaste company?Unless it's 80pc ackers, the deal won't be accepted. The reason the bidder is down is because of the billions of debt it will take on to pay us ( well shareholders, probably not you).

I guess GSK dont want £8 billion in ULVR paper as wont be easy to dispose unless private equity steps in, otherwise cant see ULVR share price recovering for a long while on this deal.

90pc that the offer is increased.Ideal is the 50pc chance of flushing out other bidders when we'll get a bidding war.

They won't come back with another bid!! If shareholders in Unilever are unhappy. When the company splits they can take over the new company when it's floats and bid for that?
