Spud - "Well they certainly haven’t in the long term ffs!"

Absolutely agree, but the choice for GSK would have been to ditch the divi a few years ago and spend on building up, including buying assets, on the pharma side, or do what they're doing now.

So they've determined to keep the divi whilst working to create cash for pharma with the split.

If they'd ditched the divi, it would still have taken time to get results, and then there'd have been a few disgruntled investors on these pages, by crikey, lol.

Truth is guys, if investors don't like it - invest elsewhere.

I'm staying. I can see the potential.

Suspending vaccine patents sounds great, but makes no sense. Licensing is a far better route to take. If India can send spaceships to the moon or wherever, then they should have been able to afford to deal with the pandemic. They failed and now they want to shift the blame onto others for not sharing the patents.

Capitalism is all about incentives, and why bother when your efforts are going to be wasted.

The Covax scheme, to which the UK has contributed greatly, should be the way to go for genuinely poor nations. The rest need to get their houses in order - starting with the EU, lol.

Then there's the matter of transferring technology and manpower, within a reasonable time-frame, to countries where oversight is abysmal and the likelihood of getting safe and secure production, questionable. Not to mention fair distribution.

Of course, if you just count the last fifteen years as short term then the management has succeeded in not boosting the share price, obviously over this not very discerning period. I wonder over what period long term shareholder interests are judged. Gosh, they really know how to reward the owners of the business! ! This really gives me a warm feeling-- I think not!

Why on earth should they try to boost the share price in the short term!!

No company should be looking for a short term boost to the share price

FFS, give me strength.

From GSK

GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK) today announced the European Commission has approved the expanded use of intravenous and subcutaneous BENLYSTA (belimumab) in combination with background immunosuppressive therapies for the treatment of adult patients with active lupus nephritis (LN) in Europe, in addition to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The EU marketing authorisation follows the recent approval for the similar expanded LN indication in the U.S.
