14/2/2007 07:57 | what a wonderful few days. Thank you to Simon too for those wonderful links and information. Interesting to see what will keep Mr Scarr-Hall occupied in his 'retirement'. Anne | annewilson
13/2/2007 07:49 | Welcome Simon Your research and posts are really appreciated. Cheers Th | theophilus
12/2/2007 18:12 | 'The 55,000 acre North Harris Estate was purchased for the sum of £4.5 million in a joint bid by the residents of North Harris and a businessman, Ian Scarr-Hall. As well as the land, the residents bought the mineral and shooting rights. The shooting rights were then leased back to Mr Scarr-Hall. He paid an estimated £2 million for the castle and the attendant fishing rights. Mr Scarr-Hall intends not only to work with the community but also to run the Castle as a residential sporting and corporate business estate.' | simon gordon

12/2/2007 09:49 | hanoversquare - what amazed me when I dug deeper was the way the management pool is developed. For such a small company it's got the culture of a multi-national. Moving staff around the world and promoting people into serious management positions in their 30's and 40's. I think for solid, low risk growth you need a strong culture - GSH has that it in a way I've rarely since in a Small Cap. on the LSE. Mears and Connaught have grown in such a way. I feel that I can now just lean back and watch this pup grow over the next three to five years. | simon gordon

12/2/2007 08:28 | Good morning all ;o) Th. - nice to see an earlier 'nibbler' this morning. I am more confident than ever that we will get some news about improved liquidity by the interims. So....putting that to one side for the moment the shares are, IMO, worth 500p on current fundamentals alone. After that any news from the interims regarding new contracts etc etc will hopefully pus the shares onwards and upwards. Still a bargain at current levels. CH3 | charterhouse3
12/2/2007 08:18 | People keep nibbing away at these. So far today up 7.5 at 410....[400/420] Cheers Th | theophilus
09/2/2007 11:30 | Hello Folks Excellent write up on the Fool as linked above. Now that it is on the Fool radar I suspect we may well get away from the relative obscurity of recent months into something akin to the likes of Indigovision or Renesola (he says hopefully !!!) whereby private investors latch onto the fact that the shares are a steal long before the institutions start piling in. Obviously for the intitutions to be involved then Ian Scarr-Hall has to start offloading. As Colin states on the Fool there may well be some news regarding that at the time of the interims. I am sure that the current management are keen for the illiquidity to be eliminated in order that the Company can move forward. Exciting times ahead. CH3 | charterhouse3
09/2/2007 10:43 | Thanks for that link Courant and welcome to this board. There are not a great number of people who post here but the number is slowly increasing. Regarding the post on the Fools board, I note that it was written by Colin or "AliceinWonder1" who also wrote two brilliant posts on SMC both worth reading even if you are not a holder. I am sure that you are correct in identifying the connection between that post and the move up yesterday [and today.] I am sure that a number of people will have it on their radar as a result of that post. The big question we are all wondering about is what will happen to Ian Scarr-Hall holding. Cheers Th. | theophilus
09/2/2007 10:02 | Folks, here's the possible (or probable?!) reason for the spike yesterday: An excellent summary - I bought in at 350p mid-jan. Courant | courant
09/2/2007 08:01 | Good morning everyone. Delighted with the beginnings of recognition yesterday as to what a steal the shares are at crrent prices. Working on a quite conservative forecast eps of 32p for this year (I am sure this will be exceeded but just using as an example) and putting a very reasonable forecast PE of 15 translates to a share price of 480p. I am confident we will be well north of this by the time of the interims in a few weeks. CH3 | charterhouse3
08/2/2007 17:04 | Actually last year the interims were announcemnt on 31 March. So not as far away as I had thought. Also leading up to that there were two announcements - a contract win and an acquisition. Cheers Ch. | theophilus
08/2/2007 17:00 | Yes a good day today. I regard GSH as a largely 'undiscovered' stock. So I was pleased that Anne's broker recommended it. Maybe more people are becoming aware of it. At least at the moment there is very little hype as regards this company. Looking back I made my first purchase only a few months ago on 17 Nov. 2006. I paid 302.75 and so I am pleased to see it move up today. It closed up 32.5 at 387.5..[380/395]. So not a bad spread compared with what it was in the past. When I bought I regarded it as a steady grower rather than a high flyer but 80p in less than 3 months is not to be sneezed at. The next announcement of results could be some time away so it would be good to see a trading statement/update within the next few months. Cheers Th. | theophilus
08/2/2007 14:11 | Great to see GSH being marked up today. Hopefully just a small sign of greater things to come. Anne | annewilson
08/2/2007 13:04 | WE ARE OFF !!!!!!!!!!!! | hanoversquare
08/2/2007 08:31 | I notice that any sellers are able to get 353p recently (well above the quoted bid price) whilst buyers are serviced at 360p from the one remaining market maker quoting that offer price. Does anyone know if it is possible that there is a big seller (and after all there is only one big holder !!) offloading at 360p ? Can we assume that, once the seller is satisfied, the share price will resume upwards as suggested by smaller sellers still getting above the highest bid quote. | hanoversquare
05/2/2007 14:28 | Hello everyone. Been away on business hence the lack of postings !!!!!! Welcome on board Anne - I hope and think GSH will do as well as Autonomy seems to have done for you. Th. - I could not make it to the AGM as I had to go on an urgent business trip. However the little feedback that I did get made me top up a little bit more last week. One potentially important piece of news is that we have a third market maker in the shares - Numis. The implications are that there is some business to be done in market making on the shares which suggests there is some background work going on regarding an increase in liquidity ;o) As they used to say at the beginning of Stingray: STAND BY FOR ACTION !! 02/2/2007 11:15 | Hello Theophilus Thank you for the welcome. I finally got on board this morning (thanks to being able to topslice some Autonomy). My broker says that there is a wonderful opportunity for a larger Company to offer a good price for the Scarr-Hall holding and absorb GSH very quickly and efficiently. He adds that the current price is at least 25% undervalued on fundamentals alone so this is a rare situation where, one way or the other, the share price will be considerably higher so those who are patient.
